The very nature of a forum / bulletin board is to have people participate. We realize that some people prefer just to read the topics and are hesitant to speak up, if everyone did that, there wouldn't be much to read.
Here are the participation requirements:
If you are a Recruit:
You need to make at least one post within the first 48 hours of joining and make at least one post per week to remain a member. If you're not going to post, why bother to join? Posting jokes in the “Got a Joke to Tell Forum” does not count. If you want to remain on the forums and become a Full Member we need to get to know you. A good place to start is in the “Introduce Yourself” topic in General Bullshit. Then check out and participate in some of the other topics. Even better start a new topic yourself.
If you are a Full Member:
You need to log into the forums at least once a week and make at least one post per month. So you've hung around long enough and posted enough that we've gotten to know you. You've proven you're not a troll so now besides responding to those posts in the “Politics” forum you can start your own topic there if you like. There are no set number of posts or specific time frame that will earn you a promotion from Recruit to Full Member. It all depends on YOU and how active you are around here.
If you are a Lieutenant:
There are none. Some of you are original Forum members who have made the move from XSOrbit to Ikonboard to Phpbb and finally to Proboards. Others may have drifted away for awhile and returned. All of you have been part of JAD for a very long time and most of you shelled out the money to hang around here back when this was a paid forum. We'd love to hear from you once in awhile but after all these years we're not gonna kick you off the forums for being quiet.
