Char's son, Bob has access to her laptop and JAD account. I received the following message from him.

Hello Jackie:

My name is Bob Huish. My mother, Char, has asked me to inform the people of this forum as to what is happening with her. I am sending YOU this message since I saw you are the author of the newbie information post and figured you must be in charge.

Unfortunately, she has been in the hospital where she was diagnosed with Glioblastoma. She is currently living in an assisted living facility called Skyline Place here in Sonora. Since I did not want to mess up your forums by posting this information in an inappropriate location, I figured it would be best if I just sent this message to you so that you can pass it along however you see best.

If she manages to start feeling well enough to begin using her laptop again I will give it back to her, but at this point her short term memory is very erratic so I am keeping it safe and secure in the hope that she can get better.

I am so sorry to have to be the bearer of such sad news and I hope you will inform her friends on this site as to her current circumstances.

OK, been dealing with connection issues here so 3rd attempt.

Bob, I “met” your Mum here on these forums. After some years my wife and I had the pleasure of picking her and your Dad up from Ft. Worth train station to go to David and Susie’s for a gathering of us geeks in Texas. I took to both your parents right away. Pretty much adopted them as my own back then. Excellent people. We were all saddened deeply when Bob passed. I never saw this coming. Your Mum is such a stong and independent person. I always admired her for that. I hate that she has to deal with this.

Please, please tell her that Lisa and Marty are thinking of her an love her like she were our own Mum.

I echo Marty's sentiments. As another foreigner, one from across the pond, I met Char and Bob on a number of occasions, both at formal JAD parties and when our paths crossed in California.

Please give your Mother my very best wishes.

Hello all

Char has asked me to tell everybody Hi for her, so HI from Char!!!

Her condition has not improved, sadly, nor is it expected to do so. I wish I could have her call all her friends, or even type out a message of love to you all, but she doesn't remember how to do such things any more and spends her time between meals lying in her bed trying to sleep.

I wish I had some good news to impart here...

We both appreciate all your kind thoughts and prayers.

Thanks Bob. So sorry for your Mum and your family to be going through this. After I first met Char I decided that if I didn’t already have a Mum I would adopt her to be my own. She’s a really special person.
