It is official. I just scored a new job with a great company. The starting salary is the same as the job I just lost in May but this company pays all of my medical, dental and vision plan costs, putting more money in my pocket.
The best part? No nights, no weekends and the holidays are voluntary staffing at double pay. I know I will like it. My best friend works there and has been extremely happy with the company for over ten years.
Now I have to figure out a polite way to quit a work from home job that, among other things, has assigned me involuntary OT just before my regular shift ends more than once since I hit the phones.

Congrats! Didn't you just change all your clubs to Pings though, Marty? Will this one be custom made like Pings usually are?

Congrats! Didn't you just change all your clubs to Pings though, Marty? Will this one be custom made like Pings usually are? All my clubs, well almost all, are Ping indeed. This is just the latest "greatest" version of the 3 wood I already had. Still sweet to win something like that. Haven't used it yet either. Next week at the earliest.

I remember a number of years ago I was flying out of GSP to parts unknown and just before the cabin door closes a guy comes running in and takes the seat next to me. He kinda leans over to look out the window as the plane pushes back and comments on the "nice, little airport". I tell him "Yeah, GSP is halfway between Atlanta and Charlotte, and while many flights just jump to them for connections, we still had good direct service to several other major cities like Washington DC, NY, etc, because of the international businesses here. He said that is what happened to him, he flew into Atlanta and to drive to a small city off of I85 south of GSP and was driving to Charlotte to catch a plane home. Called his secretary and managed to catch this flight that saved him several hours and the possibility of not getting home for the weekend.
He was a business consultant and when I mentioned that I had at one time run a business that imported from Costa Rica parts that cost $1.55 that I wholesaled for $19, we became fast friends. We chatted about the low cost labor in other countries, craftsmanship, layers of bureaucracy, taxes and all that effects business in todays world. He asked me if I played golf, and laughed so hard the stewardess came to check on him when I said that unless it had windmills or pirate ships, it had been a few years. He asked me if I knew what a set of Ping golf clubs cost. My estimation was low. He told me what single club cost, a whole set cost. Then asked me what I thought a whole set cost, made in China. My guess was low. Whole set $69. I said, "lots of guys pay more than that to chase little white balls around a cow field with flags", we laughed again and the stewardess gave us free drinks.

Cormac, frodi jr, just got word that he passed all his exams and shit. He will graduate college in November and is now the proud holder of an honours degree just like an old man. If you told us that he would have finished high school back years ago when we got his Aspergers diagnosis and all the shit we went through at that time we would have been happy.

At the first of the year the school decided that instead of having assigned parking places it would be first come in the morning gets their choice of parking places. Last week there had been enough complaints that they decided to go back to assigned places. I requested and actually got my first choice of places. It's only 30 feet from the door to our portable classroom. Best part is, all but about 8 feet is covered.

Back from Italy. No one "fell" from a cliff or got strangled in their sleep. International air travel sucks these days; but otherwise the trip went well. Pictures when I get to it.

You know you're in Colorado when you see morons like this driving down the road. So, I'm out minding my own business, taking a fall ride through the national park and a couple of ski area. I stop at a tent sale in Winter Park to stretch and this pair of skis jumped out and insisted that they had to come home with me. 2 yr old (but new) Armada ARV ti @178cm. My existing skis are end of life, these are exactly what I was looking for at 60% off if I took em home on the bike.

Here, I'll let you look up the specs on the versatility of the 7.62 x 51 cartridge here If you look at varmint rifles, medium to large game rifles, and rifles used for silhouette games, you will find this cartridge is quite popular. While it may APPEAR to you to be a 'sniper or anti-sniper' rifle, it is simply another semi-auto rifle that resembles the AR-15 type of rifle. You are aware that there are many different bullet weights and compositions available for this cartridge to serve different purposes, right?

Never mind the skis, I could look at that bike all day. Thanks, It will be four years old, next week with 33,000 miles on it in that time. My only complaint is that it eats tires at 5-6,000 miles a pop. This is the third bike with the same complaint, it may have something to do with the driver.

LWRCI™ Sniper/Assaulter Battle RifleI don't particularly care; but a 7.62 is pretty close to a 30.06 and not something you pop squirrels with.

The 4 GTs are specifically designed to the BMW RT. I wear out a pair of stripes at 45° on the tire to the point that you can tell that they are, indeed, Kevlar belted. The center of the tread, where most bikes wear, has plenty of tread left. I live in the mountains and ride 15 miles of twisty canyon every time I start the bike. It's a heavy enough bike and I might be an itty bit aggressive after riding the same turns >1000 times. I'm just whining, if 5k tread wear is the cost of having fun in the canyons, I'm OK with it. Previous bike and tire; but this is what I do to them.

Right Stan. A 30-06 and .308 are pretty much the same cartridge. Varmint, medium, or large game, or various target games. Nowhere did I mention SMALL game (squirrel, etc). That is what slingshots and shotguns are for...
This is an all around capable semi-auto that will fulfill many roles. The 7.62 x 51 is more powerful than the AK round and WAS used in our battle rifles and is still presently used in our light machine guns and SAR's (squad automatic weapons). True that it was first issued in conjunction with the U.S. Army's M-14 battle rifle as issued to me in basic training back in '66.

I own and use TWO Honda scooters - a 250 Reflex and a 600 Silverwing. I use OEM replacement tires (Brigestone Hoops) and have never gotten more than 8,000 miles on front or rear. And there are NO HILLS and twisties here in Southwest Florida! Everyone I know that rides tell me the same thing - between 6 and 8k is what you get. I have found that to be true.

Nice piece. Very nice. Question: Is the spiral fluting on the barrel something they did for heat dissipation, or sexy looks?

Nice piece. Very nice. Question: Is the spiral fluting on the barrel something they did for heat dissipation, or sexy looks? Heat dissipation David. So far as I can tell LWRC is the only manufacturer to do this. However, they do make longer uppers with no flutes, but those are designed for 'long rang accuracy' and kind of resembles a sort of bull barrel. They are usually 20" long. Look at the link that Stan posted to see one model that uses it. Also, LWRC is the 'cream' of AR-15 style rifles and are AMAZINGLY expensive but they all (except one model) use a short stroke piston system rather than direct impingement and that is a great selling point if'in you ax me... If you're interested hold on to your wallet!

?? I did a quick Google and got a figure of $3100. Is that what you call amazingly expensive? Jeez, no wonder people build up arsenals of these things. How much does a 'normal' one cost?

You got an accurate price! And yes, I call that expensive but fair for the quality of the thing. Now don't forget to add in an excellent quality 3x9 variable scope/rangefinder and other goodies (another $800). And to answer your real question you can get a basic DI (direct impingement) AR-15 type rifle in the standard 5.56 chambering for between $600 to $800 USD. That's right - a good quality pistol will cost that much!
