Woohoo! The precancerous spot was successfully removed from my mother's small intestine and she is on her way home.

Jora came through her surgery with flying colors, came home the same day, and was even up for fixing her own supper that night!

Congratulations anyway!

At Findlay Market I found, sampled and bought a pint of black cherry and whiskey flavored gelato. There's no alcohol in it, but damn is it good! I also had a smoked sausage with sauerkraut and spicy mustard. I think Findlay Market will be on my rotation to find interesting stuff! There's a farmer's market about 1/2 mile from my house, but I haven't investigated that yet. Maybe try there for tomatoes, strawberries and blueberries. Now that I've found my blender again, I'll start making smoothies for breakfast. I still have three cases of Ensure - the ones in the downstairs fridge got left behind.
I'm also going to make a huge pot of sauce/gravy this weekend. Pasta is a quick meal and that appeals to me. My houseguest wants to learn how to make it, so we'll do it together. It's not difficult, it's just time-consuming, but she never got her mom's recipe before her mom died. I might even write it down! <gasp!> The other thing I want to make is beef stew. Again, not a huge level of effort, but it's incredible with crusty rolls.
When I first decided to crash here instead of paying for a hotel, I had a microwave, a stove, an oven and absolutely no cookware. Toss a coin, frozen dinners or takeout. I got takeout from Olive Garden one night and must have been starving. The worst part is that it wasn't even good. (Eat enough takeout and it feels like I am still the road warrior from Open Text. Blech.)
Anyone have other ideas for homemade freezer meals? My current freezer situation is the top part of the fridge, so I can't go too crazy. Maybe after I empty some of these cabinets, I can have room for a small freezer in the laundry room.

Was looking over CreditKarma.com and saw this "come hither" ad: Except . . . this one was true. At some point Google owed me that money. Had to be from some advertising something or other back in the day. Went out to the Ohio Unclaimed Funds site, filled out the form, attached all the appropriate "here's something to prove who I am" documents, then mailed it off. Website says it'll take up to 120 days.

Stepped on the scale this morning and saw the smallest number I’ve seen in a LONG time. 251lbs. I’m still a fat ass, but, I’m WAY down from my peak.

It's been awhile since I felt I had anything to contribute here, but I have a couple of things.
It looks like the new chemo regimen (experimental/off-label) will be approved. Somehow the New York State Department of Financial Services had to get involved, but my persistence in bothering people until they got the paperwork submitted under deadline has paid off. I may not have made any friends in the process, but I got shit done. (That feels good to say.) I should know more about the appeals on Thursday.
I've figured out a way to get my mother to her doctors appointments without making the whole family lose their collective minds. The American Cancer Society offers free transportation. I knew that in February, why I didn't remember until now... Who knows. She qualifies because the pulmonary rehab is a result of her lung surgery to remove the cancer. It is run by volunteers and I never used it myself because as long as I could drive and get around by myself, I refused to take up a seat that some little old lady (my mom) might need. So the scheduling nightmare of 3 rehab appointments a week has been lifted from Rich and I. He owes me a fruit basket*. He said, "How do you KNOW this shit?" "Uh, honey, when you are first diagnosed, you get a grocery bag full of literature for services to help. I could have had a free wig, but I didn't want one. I was gifted a stack of bandanas, but I could never figure out how to tie them while avoiding a racial stereotype. I'll keep my platinum blonde dyke cut." He laughed, "Yanno, it IS kind of a dyke cut. But it looks GOOD on YOU!" (He's been married too long, God love him.)
*Kidding, he's feeding me Thanksgiving dinner. I'm taking a pumpkin cheesecake and depending on having access to the oven, either roasted veggies or a fruit salad. Or dinner rolls.

I guess I need to post a few things here. I’m feeling a bit rundown these days but there are bright spots and I should focus on those things.
1) I am actually ahead of the game on being ready for the run of trade shows I have to do this month (only one left to go too).
2) I have played 2-1/2 rounds of golf this month in Ontario in reasonable comfort (i.e. not uncomfortably cold).
3) I played net at hockey last Wed. and had a really, really good game.
4) On Saturday morning the cold water line from the outlet to the washing machine split. While it did cause some damage to stuff in the basement we found it really, really early and it was both well contained with nothing critical being damaged and no damage to the house itself. Just some stuff that was stored in the basement below the laundry room.

Three months ago I weighed 220- my lifetime maximum. Got pissed at myself (I'm only 5'8") and decided that that was done. Went on the ATKINS diet that day - after posting a picture of my fat ass (belly) on the bathroom mirror. This morning I weighed 185. That's a 35 pound weight loss in 3 months! Another 15 pounds and that'll do it - but then I realize that this is a 'lifestyle change' and will need constant attention. In the meantime, I've learned how to make 'cloud bread', aka 'oopsie rolls' and also found a great recipe for low carb ' keto bread' Also found a local supplier of 'fat head pizza' close by. But damn, I'm hungry...

The Toronto Argonauts won the 105th Grey Cup last night. Winning the game in come from behind fashion in the 4th quarter culminating with a last second interception in their own endzone that would have otherwise resulted in a Calgary win.
If I am not mistaken the Grey Cup is the oldest in professional sports. (The Stanley Cup is older, but was originally presented to Amateur hockey champions in Canada before the NHL assumed stewardship).
The sport was Football, Canadian style with a 110 yard long and wider field and only 3 downs allowed per series.
