Briefly spoke to Rich again. She was moved back into inpatient Hospice but checked herself out again last night.
Shell, if you see this, please listen to the doctors. They really do know what is best for you.

Talked to her today. Her voice sounded a little stronger, but, she couldn't really hold a conversation.

Was anyone able to convince her to go back to inpatient Hospice or is she at her apartment?

Was anyone able to convince her to go back to inpatient Hospice or is she at her apartment? She got kicked out. Not allowed back in because she checked herself out AMA. She almost got kicked out completely. At one point they took her pain meds. Not entirely sure what happened, but, she now has a hospital bed in her apartment and her mother is staying with her. At one point she called Rich, who is working in Columbus, around midnight because she was too weak to get out of bed to pee. That was before she got the hospital bed. IBM is really fucking with Rich right now. They don't believe his world is falling apart. His son with the overdose issues and other legal issues. His sister is dying. His mother is... Well, is his mother. They're taking all his projects away.

She called me again, late last night. She sounded much better and was actually able to hold a conversation. It's reminding me of what things were like just before my grandmother passed. Very alert one minute and not the next.

She was taken back in last night. Rich was short on details, but, she is resting comfortably at the moment. Apparently, yesterday she could not even hold a cigarette. :-(

If Rich wasn't dealing with enough right now, Ann was admitted to the hospital, too. Her and Shell were a pair of chain smoking fools and it aggravated her COPD.

Shell told some good stories of her ma trying to write checks for cigarettes at the quick stop gas station while Shell waited in the car. She kept running in and out of the quick stop trying to get Shell to go in and buy the cigarettes. It was a good laugh with the hysterical woman trying to make things go the way she wanted and no one cooperating with her. The stories of Ann calling an ambulance for a ride to the hospital because she was constipated and wanted an enema had us both laughing. It happened more than once. I believe shell came to regret moving so close to her ma.

I believe shell came to regret moving so close to her ma. I don't think their relationship was ever a good one. Just overhearing their conversations over the years made me question why they had anything to do with each other in the first place. I often questioned rather or not she would have been better off raised by wolves. I'm not sure I ever heard a conversation where one of them wasn't mad at the other. I only met Ann a few times and I could see that she was difficult then.

I just spent an hour with Shell watching the blankets rise and fall with her breath. I'm not sure she knows I was there. I kissed her on the forehead and told her I'd be back in the morning to wish her Happy Birthday. I wonder if she will make it!

As of 8 AM Eastern time I'd say she was in a coma. No response when I talked to her and when I got there her shoulders were uncovered and she's been cold for the last 6 months at least. I believe that comatose people do hear and understand and the lady at hospice agrees with me. My world keeps getting a little darker with every bright spot I lose.

Spoke to Rich about 2 hours ago. Her breathing is very labored and her complexion keeps changing. Nurses gave her 2 days at most. Rich thinks it'll. Be tonight.
