Is the sound turned off for that video? In the lower right corner, is there an x next to the speaker symbol? Occasionally, if I was watching a video with sound in one tab, subsequent videos in other tabs will have the sound disabled.

Nope, I've checked all the controls I can find, they're all on. Can you hear the sound on the Sandi clip?

I think that it might be that some sites automatically mute the sound so that it doesn't blast out as soon as you open the page. While others seem to have full volume at the ready.

It looks like I have a problem with meeces. I found tiny claw marks in Jeri's peanut butter jar. Since Chance and Bumpy have failed as hunters, what are my best options to get rid of Pixie and Dixie?

I use the bait traps that they eat and they go somewhere and die. It works for me since I can't handle seeing the bodies in traps.

what are my best options to get rid of Pixie and Dixie? The only really reliable way is to use proper mouse "snap" traps.
Sonic deterrents are useless, they may work for a little while, but then the mice ignore them.
Poison becomes less effective as the mice develop immunity to it (I had some mice that would chew off the outer coating and eat the grain in the middle!).
Humane traps can catch them (if they're on a hard surface), but unless you dump them a long way away, the mice will just come back. Also if you drop the mice in the countryside, they may well starve because they've evolved to survive in an urban setting.
Either way, try to find where they're getting in. Sprinkle some talc around the skirting boards and look for tracks. Mice can get through a hole no bigger in diameter than a ball-point pen, so you need to use some form of filler to block their entrance.

I get mice seasonally, they try to move in every fall as it gets cold. Snap traps baited with peanut butter works best. Every other year, I'll get one that toys with the trap. I poison him (or her).

We use d-CON. So far it's worked every time. Make sure it's completely out of the pets' access.

What is the defensive player positioned furthest back in American football? The two deepest defensive backs are called safeties, but they are not always positioned the furthest back. Defensive alignments can be varied tremendously.

Going to shop around for homeowners and car insurance, since I need to get a new policy anyway. Any recommendations on who is great or, just as important, who to absolutely avoid? We have Allstate now, and they're fine, and I've had no issues, but also know that switching insurance companies is a great way to get lower rates.

Auto Owners in my area is lower than Allstate for same coverage. Every couple years I "shop" and I've been with Auto Owners for about 15 years.

We're now with Travelers. I work for about 40 insurance companies - all have good and bad..... but remember, you will most likely have to have an insurance inspection on your home no matter who you go with..... Even brand-new homes get inspected.... I like Auto Owners and Cincinnati insurance, personally.

I've had good experiences (claims and customer service) with State Farm, Liberty Mutual, and Amica. I've only been with Amica for a year now, however. Nationwide was fine, I guess, but not terribly helpful, gave me a pile of grief about my homeowners, and unwilling to deal with their price creep, which is why I switched.

So Auto-Owners does not operate in NY, which would explain why I've never heard of them before now. The quote Allstate gave me for the new house is actually ~$150 less per year then we pay now. They did not requote the auto insurance, so it'll be interesting to see how everyone else compares.

I've used American Family for the last 20 years, though that is more from laziness, than anything else. I really can't recommend them, they seem a pretty blah company.
In my part of the world, fire mitigation is a big deal. The requirements vary by company; but all are unreasonable when it comes to clear cutting trees within a specific radius of the house*. By sticking with American Family, I avoid the inspection of house and lot (sorry Dan).
*Most of the companies want no trees within 100' of the house. That's not why I live in a National Forest and not exactly possible when the property line is less than 100' in every direction.

My car is with State Farm, I've had them for over 45 years. I don't bother shopping since I get all the possible discounts (my agent actually got me some I didn't qualify for). I used to have my house with them as well, until I made a stupid mistake & let it get cancelled for non-payment (I was between jobs at the time). State Farm would not reinstate the policy because I live in Long Beach, NY - a barrier beach island and my house is about 500 yards from the Atlantic Ocean.

Wish I could help you but we don’t have the same carriers here as you do at all. I will say, and this is prejudiced by my buddy’s (the one who had the motorcycle accident) experience with the same insurer and same agent as I use. I’ve never had an issue but any claims I had to make were minor. His claim is huge and personally I think he’s getting f__ked over real good. For that reason I would sort of argue to pay the least you can because that is how the insurance companies operate anyway. They want to pay you the least they can if you ever have a claim. [/jaded]

But Marty, you can argue the opposite. Those companies which charge more for their cover can afford to be a bit more friendly when it comes to paying out. This then gets them a good reputation and thus more customers.
If the more expensive companies don't offer better benefits, they will die very quickly, and many aren't.

Perhaps but I think “delivering shareholder returns” trumps any intentions of paying out to customers.

They will jack up your premium at the slightest excuse. They will add £100 to your renewal in the hope that you won't question it. They employ "loss adjusters" who are there to reduce a claim as much as possible. They will charge you £25 for the most minor change to your policy. They take the most expensive cost of fixing a damged vehicle (replacing anything broken with new, OEM parts) and then decide that it's not financially viable, so will write-off the vehicle instead, because that's cheaper for them.
In short, they don't give a damn about you or anything that doesn't make them money.

State Farm is a mutual company as well as Country Companies.

A question for you motor sport experts - Jim? Some video of a recent race in the US. I have two questions:- Why so many sparks from the vehicles? Is this deliberate? Do they put some sort of special metal plate under the car to generate such plumes of sparks? I've never seen that in any other crash. Second, a couple of the cars seem to have little flaps lifting up at the back of the roof, above the rear wind-shield. Is this some sort of air-brake, like on a plane?
