Well, a final sad update. Char passed away this afternoon, Sunday April 28th 2019.
I want to personally thank all of you for being such good friends of hers, she was always telling me such good stories of your gatherings and conversations and I know that she loved you all.

Bob, thoughts are with you, your brother and families. Though I never met your Mom and Dad in person, I did enjoy some telephone conversations with them. Both were great people.

Oh, an addendum to the previous post. Char took the time to write up her own obituary.
"Charlotte (Orr) Huish June 3, 1943 to April 28, 2019
Char is survived by her children Jim, and Bob, and 2 grandchildren Nathaniel and Elisa.
Charlotte (Char) was born to Raymond and Aurelia Mackey Orr June 3, 1943 in Livermore, California. She grew up in the Bay Area in Castro Valley.
In her very early teens Char saw her future husband, Bob, for the first time. He was her big brother Roy's best friend. She would laugh as she told the story in later years of seeing of seeing Bob for the first time. She stopped dead in her tracks and stared. Several years later Char and Bob had their first double date with brother Roy. They married in 1960 and were married for 53 years when Bob died in 2013.
In 1963 Bobs' parents bought a bit of land in Calaveras County on Angels Creek which became the family gathering spot for many years. Eventually Bob and Char built a cabin on the land.
When Bob retired they moved to their summer cabin in Angels Camp where they enjoyed the laid back lifestyle of the Angels Camp/Murphys area."
Such an organized gal, even to working up her own Obituary... She will be greatly missed

Can we have any details of a funeral or memorial event ASAP please? I am sure there are a few folks that would like to go.

Bob please share our personal condolences with your family. We did have the opportunity to meet Char and Bob in Texas some years back. They were both wonderful people and will be dearly missed.
On a side note I didn’t know her maiden name was Orr before now. So many Bobby’s in the family it’s a miracle there weren’t a few hockey players in the clan!

It's driving me nuts that I can't remember if I actually met her. Did she make it to either the Ohio hotel party or any of the events at Ray's?

All I really remember was falling asleep while David was telling a story and picking Malc up at the airport.

Hello Malcolm:
It was Char's request that there will be no memorial or other services. Her specific statement was that she wanted to be 'torched and tossed or torched and trashed' but she didn't want a bunch of people gathering for a mourn session... "That would be too depressing" she said.
I am planning on taking her ashes, as well as Bobs ashes and perhaps even my Uncle Randy's ashes (if his widow so desires since Bob and Randy have been hanging out in her closet for some years now) and distribute bits in some local locations of beauty which are not exactly places where such a practice is permitted and, therefore, will remain unnamed.
I hope you all raise a glass to their memories at your next get-together as that would be a most fitting memorial!
Bob
