This stems from a discussion we had in the pub last night. A gentleman in his Seventies is moving house, for the second time in his life. Next to him was another Gent of a similar age, who could claim 29 different addresses.
I can claim ten. Four when I was a very young child, before we moved into the long-term family home. Two at college; two when I lived in London for a year; then I moved back to the family home and then bought my own place. Ten.
How about you?
(For a definition, we said "Somewhere where you could receive mail addressed to you." The second Gent above included four ships he served on in the Navy.)

Five, thus far, though I'm anticipating a sixth sometime in the next few years.

I've always said that I moved to my 7th home just before my 8th birthday. I didn't receive mail at the first two, three months and one month, but my parents did. After that we have here, Olney, four OSU dorms, four apartments after, so 17, though "here" was also summers during Olney and between the dorms. Oooh, we could add a few more, because when we first moved here, it was RR 1 (Rural Route 1), then went to house numbers on named/numbered roads. During this time, actual USPS mail was delivered to my grandparents' then uncle and aunt's house (main farm) because we never had a mailbox at this house, and it was more convenient, though UPS packages could come here, or go there, the UPS guys usually just delivered anything with our last name to the farm. (Or would put it in one of our vehicles if they saw it around town.) A few years ago, I went to a PO Box so I wouldn't have to wake up my uncle and aunt to get our mail, what with working to 1 am.

1. 0-3 years 2. 3-22 3. 22-23 2. 23-27 No 2 again 4. 27-28 5. 28-37 Then for a period of 6 months we stayed in which ever family home was empty or had a spare room. 6. 37 -now (58 next month) I don't really expect to move again except in a box but we may decided to downsize at some stage in the future if the economics dictate.

The apartment we lived in when I was born. My grandparent's apartment we lived in when my parents first split. The apartment I lived most of my childhood in. Mom's House. Dad's House / My house. The house in OKC.
So, it looks like I've moved 7 times and had 6 addresses. Not counting my college dorm.

I'm 60 years old and have had 25 different addresses.
Eight different addresses before I left home at 17 and then sixteen more by the time I moved to Georgia when I was 24. I lived at my first address in this town ten years then moved to my current address in 1992. We bought this house in 2009 and it will be paid for in June so I guess if I ever move again it will be into a nursing home or in with one of my daughters.

I'll go with 10; but I've lived at 3 places where the address changed (only counting them as 1).
We toy with the idea of moving, Boulder is decidedly high cost of living; but we like it here and the house is paid for and suits us.

Do you count addresses one moved back to? There were several times I moved back to the same address I had previously - e.g. summer job in one place, college in another.
If not, 10. If so... somewhere around 25.

3 addresses for 5 different times in my life. Add College, 6. Look at my credit report and they have my business address and a PO Box listed as places I have lived, as well as some random Florida address.
Donnan 0-2 Northwood 2-16 Kenilworth 16-23 Donnan 23-50 Northwood 50-Present

8 places that I know of before going to college. 5 more during college 6 since college, which includes a P.O Box for a year when I was just driving around. Maybe one more as I'm starting to be tired of this place...
I'm not big on commitment so I've never owned a place, always a renter.

At least 30, counting ships and long term hotels (for several months at a time), and I’ll be 62 in a few months. From 0-18, one house with 3 different mailing addresses, the rest were after leaving for college.

Four addresses and the next one will be my fifth and last. My wife and I are deciding where to live when we retire. My wife is 65 and I am turning 60 in November of this year. I will retire in 2024.
We want to be near water and don't really care where we live. Any suggestions?

San Diego has great weather but is very expensive. If the cold doesn't bother you the Great Lakes have a multitude of options. North Carolina has fairly temperate weather and you can be close to ocean and mountains. Florida has lots of water options and parts have a real high weird factor, if that's your thing.
If you don't need a lot of water, almost every state has lakes so pick a location by balancing tax/benefit ratios for you particular situation and weed out based on weather.

What's the use of Mank living in Liverpool? He doesn't speak their language and they don't speak his!
And if you are calling the River Mersey water . . most people just call it untreated sewage.

The Tenn-Tom waterway runs from western Kentucky to Mobile AL. Kentucky Lake is an impoundment that stretches from the Ohio River into TN. From there to the south toward Mobile on the Tombigbee River are 12 more dams. You can almost select your climate from 4 seasons in KY to winter home in AL. I've covered it all by boat and one section is prettier than the next.

We don't want to live anywhere that might be hit by a hurricane. I think Tybee has been hit with hurricanes if memory serves. We did love Lake Michigan the beaches there are incredible. We have been thinking of lake front property and Tennessee has some nice lakes. The problem with Michigan is their taxes are terrible. We could never live in California.. too liberal, too many taxes.. living there is expensive. Oh and did I mention too many liberals there... LOL.

SC has Lake Keowee, Lake Hartwell, and Santee Cooper. Moderate climate. Keowee is in the mountains so occasional ice and snow. Santee Cooper area is much flatter area, but you will get the once every 10 year hurricane left over rain and wind.

Think about Australia. It's an island - gotta be water everywhere, right?
DON'T think about SW Florida - we have too many people coming here to retire as it is - apparently the once in every 30 year hurricane that comes close to this area doesn't dissuade them much... Besides a 150 mph wind every once in awhile just dusts the streets a bit.
