Honestly, I can't see why you don't just move back to the continent that most of your forebears came from.
No ball-breaking -20 winters; no searing-your-skin-off summers; no hurricanes, typhoons or waterspouts; no vast flooding of populated areas; no forest fires (in populated areas); no cougars/bears/snakes; no power outages every other day; no gun massacres; no barely-regulated police forces; free healthcare (in some countries); stunning landscapes; less chance of being imprisoned.
You will have to make some allowances: Seeing immigation officers without guns; you can't call buildings from 1900 'really old'; you will have to learn that houses are made from brick and stone, not wood or aluminium (a word you will also have to learn to spell properly); you won't be able to modify your car as and when you see fit.
Really, our politicians are no worse than yours, our taxes are reasonable, our laws are fixed throughout the whole country.
Let's face it, America is your 400 year-old experiment that hasn't really worked. We've moved on in that time, developed and matured; go back to your old country, whichever one your forefathers ran away from.

The more we become like Europe, the worse things get.

Eh, I'd sell us back to England for the price of a bad cheeseburger. Fuck this bullshit system set up by puritans. I only stay because I'm too lazy to leave.

We have a bunch of puritanical prod-noses in power at the moment who want all adults to give private information (passport, driving licence, name and address or similar) to be allowed to view porn and end up on a database with *no* requirement for adequate security that will be a ripe target for hackers to get into and then spread all over the internet.
Naturally this is being done with the justification of "Think of the Children!" except it's been described as "laughably easy to circumvent", won't cover social media like Twitter, Instagram, Whatsapp etc and is very probably just a trial for extended censorship because it can be expanded as soon as they get people used to it...
(Sorry, a bit off topic...)

My San Diego suggestion was from a visitor's point of view. Good point about the downside of living there. The weather is good and the easy access to sea and desert makes for a lot of entertainment options. The people on dive boats tend to not be so liberal, military folks are more common. The brewery scene is top notch too!

If I could afford to live in San Diego I'd be there in a heartbeat. Love the place.

SC has Lake Keowee, Lake Hartwell, and Santee Cooper. Moderate climate. Keowee is in the mountains so occasional ice and snow. Santee Cooper area is much flatter area, but you will get the once every 10 year hurricane left over rain and wind. And Lake Murray.

We've moved on in that time, developed and matured; go back to your old country, whichever one your forefathers ran away from. My forefathers are from Poland. Actually, my grandfather, who I never met is the person who came to this country. My last name is Mankowski. I did do some research and there is a Mankow Poland. I would assume that is where my lineage originally started. However, I would like to visit there but NOT live in Poland. I thank everybody for the suggestions. We are looking hard at North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee right now. I could never live in California. I hear it is nice there but too many taxes and the cost of living there is ridiculous. I live in Pittsburgh now and our housing and living costs are extremely reasonable. Taxes in Pennsylvania are terrible especially on gasoline. I believe we are paying some of the highest taxes in the country now. We do definitely want to live near a lake, have a boat and/or jet skis. We were both lifeguards when we were younger and we love to swim or any water activity.

We really like the homes and lake there. We started looking through Zillow and found quite a few homes we like that even have a dock for a boat or jet skis. I know it is near Columbia so that would be nice for cultural events. We attend a lot of plays at Heinz Hall or the Benedum in Pittsburgh as well as quite a few symphonies. We would just have to find a bar that catered to Steeler fans!
