I lived near Munich for many years so here are some my recommendations. Hofbräuhaus, a typical German restaurant. www.muenchen.de/int/en/sights/attractions/hofbraeuhaus.htmlIt is very close to Marienplatz so very walkable distance. Default size of the beer is 1/2 litre. Mass is 1 litre of beer. ~snip~ Ha! I have the song on 78! "In München steht ein Hofbräuhaus: Eins, zwei, g'suffa!" I didn't know it was a real place, at least not that it was still in operation.

It’s apparently quite old. I forget the year but read on a web-site something along the lines of “the government built it to be a place where poor people could go drink beer.”

Lisa just got breaking news that Kobe Bryant was killed in a helicopter accident? Holy shit!
Interesting, isn't it. CNN, an American news outlet, reports on the death of an American basketball star, and the first two people quoted in the article are European soccer players.

Could they be tailoring the report based on where your IP is. An American IP might get a different version of the story.

Could any of you Americans / Canadians do me a quick favour?
Go to Google Maps and type in 'Empty Seats'; does it show a result?
Also 'Gobshites', does that give a result?
Believe it or not, I am serious. If the answers are no, go to 'Manchester, UK' and then try the above again.

Empty Seats - No results (From Munich) Gobshites - No results (still from Munich) After going to Manchester first Empty Seats resiulted Etihad Stadium Directly from there Gobshites got not results. After going to Manchester first then Gobshites resulted Anfield, Liverpool’s 45,000 seat football stadium. I presume thse results were what you hope for? LOL

If you watched the Super Bowl what did you think of it? What commercials, if any, did you like or dislike?
Watching the game I thought the 49ers had the game with a 10 point lead and 9 minutes to go but, then I thought this is what the Chiefs want to be down by 10 again in the playoffs. The Chiefs with Mahomes though are never out of it.
The commercial that stuck out in my mind is the Jason Momoa commercial where he gets really skinny and bald was funny.

I thought the game was fine, I like a closer game than a blowout so I enjoyed it. The Jason Momoa commercial was cute but I'm a Marvel nut so I really enjoyed the Disney+ ad.

I watched everything before the game started until will after it was over. I don't remember the Marvel commercial at all. I am not a fan of the Marvel movies since I don't think they have much originality. I do know that people like those movies. I will admit I am a fan of the Deadpool movie. I am not sure if Deadpool is part of the Marvel franchise??? I don't remember the Disney commercial either. I do remember the poor sap trying to get the stain out of his shirt. Oh, and I remember the Trump commercial. Other than that I don't remember many more... PS: Oh the Lil Nas X and Sam Elliot commercial comes to mind since my wife has always had a huge crush on Sam Elliot.

JFC I miss the days when tech support people could use their brains instead of just working off a script. I just spent a useless hour w/ support for one of my programs. He didn't listen to a word I said just stuck by the script even when I had already answered that question.
So frustrating. Beer me.

I miss the days when tech support people could use their brains instead of just working off a script. Probably because, these days, they don't actually *know* how the program works, so they have to go through the script, otherwise they'll get hopelessly confused (and probably shouted at by their call-centre manager for not following it...)

The other unbelievable piece of this, he called me later and said 'oh that's a known problem and development is working on it'. I mean come on, this is a niche product we're talking hundreds of users not thousands. He should have known this.

From the Games topic: You don't need a parachute when jumping out of a plane. You just need a parachute to jump out of a plane twice. My brother used to be a pilot; once, when taking up a plane full of parachutists, the engine started jumping and coughing. After a few seconds he got the fuel mix sorted and called over his shoulder, "It's OK chaps, it's all sorted" He got no reply. He looked back. "Chaps? Chaps?" All he saw was an empty plane.

Well, let's see. Over the past year I have:
1) Bought a 3+ acre old farmhouse I have been fixing up 2) Quit my job 3) Moved across the country 4) Became a mini-slum lord 5) Decided to try to be a farmer
Those are the highlights anyways.
Then the last month or so, I have been recovering after I fell through my garage ceiling and landed head-first on the concrete. (How I didn't break anything or have a severe head injury, I will never know). My hand still isn't 100%. I still don't have full moment without pain in some of my fingers.

Well that is quite a change of pace! Did you ever work in the new Apple campus or get to see it before you left? What part of the country are you in now?

We were one of the first teams to move in before they had even finished the entire thing. I am now living north of Canada.
