Here is an article about cheese in the USA, from a British perspective.I love cheese. Proper stuff, not those huge blocks of 'cheddar' but real localised cheese. With English cheeses, I like the crumbly Lancashire, Cheshire and Wensleydale. French cheeses tend to be a bit softer, I like Brie and Camembert. If I need a harder cheese, for example to use in an omelette, I might go for a Norwegian Jarlsberg. I don't think I have ever seen any American artisan cheese. Those yellow slices? Yuck. On my first trip to the USA, every burger option seemed to include that cheese. I chose the fish burger. "At least that can't put cheese on that!". I was wrong. It was revolting. How about you?

My wife is lactose intolerant, it's manageable with Lactaid; but if we're going through the effort, we make sure the cheese is worthwhile. We tend to buy very sharp artisan cheeses (more flavor, less lactose), that would be my preference anyway. I don't think I have ever seen any American artisan cheese. They exist in smaller quantities, you just have to hunt them down.

I'm mildly lactose intolerant, but I'm ok if it's spoiled or boiled, so, I eat cheese. I love cheese. American cheeses, like those plastic singles and Velveeta are "processed cheese product". Yes, they're processed, and definitely a product, but they aren't cheese. Time was the phrase was "processed cheese food", apparently they can't call it food anymore. If I get a burger at a fast food joint, I'll deal with the "cheese", and my favorite pizza joint uses Wisconsin mozzarella, parmesan, and cheddar. What do those count as? I've never heard of artisanal American cheese.

I love cheese. Problem is I'm the only one in the house that does. B will take some on occasion so a lot of it goes off. It still doesn't stop me.

Why do I get the feeling the BBC got a press release from the American Cheese manufacturers and decided it was better than more bloody Brexit?
As for cheese, I only eat mild Cheddar.
I don't have cheese on burgers or pizza because, to me, cooked cheese tastes like burned rubber smells.

Living in rural middle America in the 40's I didn't know that there was a variety of cheeses until I was in my teens. We vacationed in Wisconsin, America's Dairyland and visited stores with cheeses that I'd never dreamed of.
I enjoy sharp cheddar, pepper jack, and muenster. I enjoy others but these are ones I have on hand. A grilled cheese sandwich doesn't taste like they did in my youth if it's not made with the yellow stuff on rye bread with a slice of onion added.
Yes, I grate my own cheese!

I love cheese. Sharp cheddar, swiss, Stilton, Wensleydale, provolone, mozzarella, Manchego, Iberico, chevre, feta, parmesian, romano well the list goes on and on. I don't think I've ever tried a cheese I don't like (I'm not counting those slices of rubber wrapped in plastic that some people put on burgers). One cheese I've never tried and have no desire to is Limburger.

As I've gotten older, wiser, and have more disposable income, I've come to like *cheese*. I'll try any of it, and if I like it, I'll try it again. When eating fast-food, I take what they give, because it's familiar. At home with some smoked prosciutto, not so much.

I don't know what all these cheese names are, but I'll probably like it. Manchego is made from sheep's milk. Chevre is goat cheese. Iberico is a Spanish cheese and is a mixture of cow, sheep, and goats milk.

Offhand, I can't think of any cheese I don't like (with the caveat that "American processed cheese-food" wrapped slices and Velveeta are not real cheeses in my opinion). I have my favorite cheeses, but I'll try any of them. I enjoy cheddars, soft brie/camembert, feta, bleu cheese, Roquefort, Yarlsburg, Gouda, Swiss, mozzarella, etc. and I love 'taste-testing' cheeses at grocery stores when they offer bits to try. Yum!! My favorite pizza has 6 cheeses on it.

Iberico is a Spanish cheese and is a mixture of cow, sheep, and goats milk. Sometimes I don't know whether I've ever had a particular food because I don't know the name of what I was eating when I was eating it. Iberico sounds interesting, being cow, sheep and goat. I'll give that a try. Think I'll try Limburger. too, and see if I can get past the reek to appreciate the taste.

Something I forgot to say earlier is that to me, every sandwich needs cheese. I may have tuna salad and bread, but if I don't have cheese, I can't make a sandwich. This includes PBJ. In desperation, I have used shredded cheese or cottage cheese.

Funnily enough, I saw some Iberico in my local supermarket this week; I thought, 'I don't think I have ever tried that' and bought some. Had it tonight. Very nice, a tad nutty, if you know what I mean.

I'm not picky about cheese, either, except for American cheese. I had enough of that growing up. That ain't real cheese.

I will eat any cheese that exists. The one I don't care for but will eat in a pinch is Kraft American Singles. I like Velveeta too it melts really well. Also, I adore blue cheese I could put it on anything and most of the time I do.
I didn't see a category in the poll for I love all cheeses!

I love it when we talk about food.
I like blue cheese, especially the bottled kind. I want it when I'm eating chicken wings.
With the exception of peanut butter & jelly, and tuna sandwiches, I cannot appreciate a sandwich that does not have cheese.
Peanut butter & jelly with cheese sounds like one of those social media challenges. But I wonder if there are some types of cheeses that would not be so strange on a PBJ sandwich.
