Welcome to the tropical zone of the Joke A Day Forums. The Drifting Topic never closes, never runs dry, and never runs you off. Anything is fair game in here. Toasts, birthday greetings, random topic drift, whatever. Ramble all you want. That's what we designed it for. It's just one continuous party.
We founded the Drifting Topic (or D.I.R.T.B.A.G, as some of the more unsavory patrons call it) as a haven for random chat. It's more than a place to sip a few, it's the place where all the silly comments, bad puns, shaggy dog stories, and other idiocy are welcome. Not that we don't enjoy a bit of humor in the rest of the boards, mind you. You did come here from Joke A Day, didn't you? It's just that the proprietors have requested that the rest of the boards at least attempt to stay on topic.
Sit back, pop a few corks, and help yourself to the peanuts on the back of the bar. Drinks are self-service, and so is the grill. Don't bitch if we don't have your brand, 'cause you ain't payin' for it anyway. Ray's runnin' a virtual tab! Drink hearty, me buckos!

It's not bad, but a little sharp for my taste.
Traditionally drunk from a half-pint glass, regularly topped up to maintain the head.
Also causes you to strip to the waist when attending football matches, no matter the weather.

I also have a case of Blue Moon and a case of Fat Tire at home. Oh and two bottles of Scotch Glenlivet 18 and 21 year old Scotch. Have to do something while staying at home all the time!

Fat Tire, I drank a lot some of that in TN at the last JAD party.
Blue Moon is the noisy neighbours anthem, so I have never even tasted it.

Blue Moon being a wheat beer lends itself to fruit very well, thus the orange slice. I have had Blue Moon Mango that is very good. I have also had Blue Moon Blonde Ale with Coffee and I was surprised how good it was. It just has a slight hint of coffee at the end.

I find myself going back & forth between wheat beers like Blue Moon & Hoegaarden & Belgian Trappist-style ales, like Delerium Tremins & the ones from Quebec-based Unibroue, such as Le Fin Du Monde.

I can drink a wheat beer but I really don’t care for them very much.

I'm not a fan of the wheat beers and prefer ale over lager. I like the full range from hop heavy to malty and most everything in between. Of course, each of the styles can be done in a range of quality and that's the most important discriminant.

I do tend to lean towards ales myself. But, there aren't too many beers I don't like. I like the sours and sessions too. Shandys in the summer with some lemon or orange are great. I have attended for years now an event called the Big Pour in Pittsburgh. It is held at a place that recycles construction material, called Construction Junction. I have posted a link below. The website shows videos and various vendors of the event. It has been running for 14 years now and I think I have attended it for the last 10 years. It gets bigger and bigger each year. Oh, I will say this I am NOT a big fan of IPAs. It seemed, except for the last two years, that it was a contest to see how bitter you could make the beer with IBU ratings in the 80s or higher. This is going back probably about 25 years. I was in Bermuda and picked up a brochure titled "FREE BEER". It was for a local brewery called Triangle (get it, Bermuda Triangle) offering tours of the brewery, which was in an industrial area on the south shore. Somehow we got there using the local bus system, and walked downhill to the brewery, next door to a concrete block factory. The guide explained that the tour was going to be a little late because the concrete block factory was doing a little overtime and the noise from the factory would drown out the talk. We went inside & were each given a plastic cup and directed to a wall at the back of the brewery with 6 taps. "Help yourself" was all he had to say.
Once the talk got started, he made several points, the taps were open at the back, the restrooms were upstairs, and for some reason, motor scooters that were operating perfectly coming down the hill seemed to have some trouble going back uphill after the tour. After a brief history of beer and the brewery itself, we were shown the various vats & kettles. Then it was time for a special treat. Usually, the brewmaster had some sort of seasonal beer that we would sample, along with the normal 6 varieties. However, that day we were able to sample one of their regular brews, but before the yeast solids were filtered out. You almost had to chew it in order to drink it, but the taste was fantastic.
Unfortunately, the Triangle brewery doesn't exist anymore.

The Big Pour looks to be a step ahead of the Beer Fests we have in Columbus. We have Winter and Summer versions. The Winter is in the convention center with a VIP option giving you access to free food (good stuff) from local restaurants and exclusive beers. The Summer is outdoors with food trucks. Both start you with 20 tickets and you trade a ticket for about a 3 oz pour. But the ticket process isn't enforced. The appearance is made to make the liquor control board happy. Both have Friday and Saturday sessions. Friday is best, not as crowded. Columbus Beer Fest

I have to admit I am getting tired of all the Marty covid we are doomed posts in almost every thread. *sigh* My main goal in life now is to try and buy some of this... I will share it with everybody. I wonder how it tastes? It isn't in the Pennsylvania State Liquor stores yet. I imagine it will only come to the "premium" stores. Yes, in PA there are "regular" liquor stores and "premium" liquor stores. I live near Sewickley PA and they have the premium store. Here is a hockey related fact, Mario Lemieux and Sydney Crosby live in Sewickley PA. Their homes are right up the street from where my wife works, at Sewickley Academy.

It's hit or miss for Ohio's liquor stores, government run madness. I usually have to pick up interesting bottles like that when I travel. So lately it's been the usual stuff.

Ya,ya I've taken some, just need to edit and post them. I kinda regret not naming her "Princess" Annie, she's turning into quite the princess. "Servants open the door", "You expect me to eat kibble whilst you dine on steak?"
