Marty, was there any indication how long before the explosion the first picture was? No, I shared this from another forum.

I went to Google Maps, and the before pic matches what was in the sat view. Interestingly, Google had put a labeled pin where the explosion was, so it was easy to see where it is in relation to the rest of the city.

There was an interesting piece in todays Irish Times. It was from a resident of Beirut who said that a lot of the older residents who had lived through the civil war that when they heard an explosion instinctively headed for the corridors as they knew that all the glass windows would shatter in the next few seconds.

Congratulations, frodi, that was a deserved win. Our bowlers should have been able to contain you in the last 10 overs, but they lost control. I'd buy you a celebratory pint, but all your pubs are shut. Just to add, it was a good day for Irish Cricket. Three Irishmen scored centuries. Two for Ireland and one for England!

Only shame is that he didn’t wreck sooner and without involving another driver. Actually sorry that he was able to stand up after the wreck. Glad that most motorcyclists do not drive like this. Oddly enough watching that video was like a Metaphor of Trump’s handling of Covid.... Da-dump-bump, ting!

For what it's worth, bikers hate folks that drive like that. The last thing I need is to be the guy on a bike that comes by 2 min after this moron.

And people wonder why car drivers hate bikers. Newsflash: Sensible bikers hate morons like that too. He was an accident waiting to happen and, unsurprisingly, it happened to him.
Fortunately pillocks like that are actually few and far between.

Agreed. I predicted the end when I saw the last few minutes filtering up the outside. Anyway I've seen loads of videos of car drivers acting the pillock as well.

A variation of "Ask not what can my country can do for me ... " now it's what has my country done for the world. www.goodcountry.org/index/results/In the mioddle of the last(!) recession Ireland was no 1.

Was it Ireland or Northern Ireland that sent money to at least one of the US Indian reservations? It's in return for the money a tribe (I can't remember which off the top of my head) sent for relief during the potato famine.

It was Ireland, singular as it predates partition That benefited from the donation by the Choctaw nation. The area involved is in the Republic of Ireland. The famine hit mostly the west and north west of Ireland. It was mostly the Republic that donated to the gofundme page.

Yeah, that would go a long way towards the ratings. Thank you, Ireland.

Whilst waiting for an email reply, and eating my lunch, I just clicked on the Solitaire card came on my PC. The first four cards dealt were the four Aces. What are the chances of that?
1 in 270,725 apparently.

Came close to losing another one this weekend. Kevin Fierro has been in the ICU all weekend. Had surgery this morning for an infected ulcer. Rachel said he had passed out in the ER yesterday.
Kevin's the most standup motherfucker I've ever met. He's got to best this, whatever it is.

Do we have a “Read any good books lately” thread here?
I just read Bob Woodward’s “Fear” and am drooling for the release of “Rage” which is hitting the stores next week. Clips already being leaked and it is beautiful!
Mods, if needed move this post to the political thread because it is gonna get ugly!
Dan’s panties will be unrecognizable from all the knots in them! LOL

How the Brits nuked the US, twice! That’s a cool story frodi! Thanks, very interesting. Not surprising they wanted to supress the story of course. They’d worry the Russians would learn from it of course. Although no doubt the aim was to make a big deal about how good the defenses were. Still the exercise would have given them info on how to close those holes up too. But just imagine that if the Brits had nuked NYC back in 62 a certain individual would never have become POTUS.... Of course the Brits would not do that though. They’re much too polite!

But did the USA ever fill the gaps? I can't see them keeping that story from the darned Russkis.

How many of these are yours, Drea? Nice! Actually, question is more challenging than you'd think, since I know very little about Mars' non-US products. I count five here (Galaxy, Milky Way, Extra, Marathon and Celebrations (which is a pack of multiple Mars miniature candies). One is a trick question (Google confirms that "the Marathon bar was marketed under the name 'Marathon' in the UK and Ireland until 1990, when Mars decided to align the UK product with the global Snickers name").EDIT: I was wrong, there are six seven Mars products here. I didn't know that Topic and Revels were Mars products as well.

From the Politics forum: Yeah, they landed a 747 at the WH to fly 9 miles. I once got a 747 from Shannon airport to Dublin airport - 140 miles, and I scammed a jumpseat in the cockpit (pre 9/11) for the whole flight, all 20 minutes of it. I have also been on the shortest commercial timetabled flight. Westray to Papa Westray in the Scottish islands. It is timetabled at 2 minutes, but we did it in 1 because we had a favourable wind. It wasn't in a 747, it was an Islander, IIRC.

From FB. Now to me, that isn't hunting. Hunting is pitting your wits against the prey, on his territory. Finding him by tracking and recognising spoor. Ensuring that he doesn't sense you be making sure you are always down wind, and never on the skyline. Getting close enough to get a clean shot without him hearing you. Sitting up a tree with a rifle, hoping a deer will come towards your trail of food isn't hunting, its just luck.
