I'm glad I picked up this six pack on the way to Mom and Dad's today, because the stores were closed on the way home and I need beer tonight. I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving.

We had braised beef short ribs. They were quite tasty though it was not a Thanksgiving meal it could qualify.

I made 2-25LBS of birds. Marinated them with Teriyaki on one and garlic butter on the other. Had 4 of the 5 kids, and ALL the grandkids here today. Not a bad day

Yep, it's been going on for a few days now. A bit naughty that a business of their size didn't have enough precautions in place.

Where's frodi? He's supposed to be buying! I’d raise a toast with some Jameson’s or other Oirish Whiskey!

I bought an Advent calendar from Eton School this year. All the doors are opened by my father's contacts. Unless they don't believe in toeing the Woke line, in which case the doors are nailed shut.

Lol! Either you don't understand what "woke" means, or you've *really* not noticed that this bunch in power can lie, deceive, steal from the public purse to give to their mates and ignore the law of the land if it suits them without ever being called to account by the media or held responsible in the courts for their actions!!

Hey folks, the America’s Cup sailing race is a pretty big deal. I have not followed it personally though I know how much effort goes into making these sailboats faster. Well I had no idea how far technology advanced. These boats now hae hydrofoil outriggers that they can lower or lift out of the water depending on wind. These massive boats can lift out of the water at only 19 km/h (like 12 MPH) and can achieve speeds of 55 MPH on the water on a wind of about 16 mph. The technolgoy is insane! So cool to watch these massive boats just lift out of the water using only wind!
Seriously, worth a look.

I got a bottle of whiskey as a present from a customer. I don't usually drink whiskey so I started to look for things to do apart from re-gifting it. I remembered that last summer (2019 that is) we were at a festival and staying in my brothers house. On the Sunday morning we were drinking whiskey, ginger and lime. As I recalled it wasn't too bad so i went looking for recipes to get proportions. A quick run thro google and I found two pages. Both from Jameson but one had en-us and the other had en-ie in the url. So I opened both. The US one has one part whiskey to two parts ginger with a twist of lime. Th Irish one had one part to 3 parts ginger with the twist of lime. As an Irishman I felt insulted. You can tell that Jameson is now owned and marketed by an English firm. But then their national drink is warm beer which says it all for their taste.
Opinions please.

The myth that Brits drink warm beer is over-rated. Those poor souls who insist on drinking lager beer, drink it cold. The heroes who drink proper English ale, should drink it at cellar temperature. The drink is not designed to cool you down, it is desinged to keep you hydrated. If you need to cool down, jump in a lake.
Your national beer, Guinness, never used to be served through a chiller, either.

The alcohol content dehydrates you if anything. frodi, Whisky and Ginger over ice is my drink of choice when I have cold. Once in a while when I am not. But I do strongly prefer Canadian Rye Whiskey in this drink but Kentucky Bourbon works too. I’ve never used Irish Whiskey for that. In coffee, yes. In my flask when golfing in cool weather absolutely!

Sorry Marty, I disagree. Beer was first made around 5,000 years ago, with a pretty low alcohol content. You would have to drink huge quantities to get drunk.
There is evidence that beer was drunk in England some 500 years ago for health reasons. It was cleaner than the water available to most people, and during the cholera outbreaks in large cities, especially London, it was noted that the families of those who worked in breweries, who got free beer, were hardly ever affected.
Now, that certainly might not be how it is marketed in the modern day, but I still don't think that beer dehydrates you. There is more water in it than the diuretic effect. Don't forget, most beers are about 96% water.

If you don't drink enough water with alcohol, you can become dehydrated quickly. 4% beer means you are drinking 24 times as much water as alcohol. I have never waken up with a "mouth like a badger's arse" when drinking just beer. Back in the day when I would drink anything I could get my hands on, it was a different matter.

I don't know, but I wish people would give me beer or whiskey for Christmas. They never do, even when I tell them that's what they can get me.
