This is now more personal for me. My nephew, who is a young 60, and his 2 daughters at 20 and 21 have tested positive. They are all in good health but that doesn't seem to matter at times and 60 is knocking on the old folks doors.

Don’t get me wrong on this. Had to get that out first. I’ll finish that explanation after. Trump’s visit to the mask plant in Phoenix kind of smells of him trying to solidify his appearance as a “wartime” President By visiting the “Front lines.” Now with Covid-19 known to be in the White House it would be ridiculously ironic and disastrous for his reelection chances if his entourage infected the plant making the desperately needed masks. He might have brought the enemy behind his own front lines. That said I am most certainly NOT wishing that on the good people running that plant but they are now at risk. CNN link again btw. www.cnn.com/2020/05/08/politics/donald-trump-staffers-coronavirus/index.html

C/P into your browser might work. For now here is a C/P of the text. Washington Post by the way. Couldn’t find the story on their site in text. It’s a video post on there. President Trump has been bullish about a coronavirus vaccine — so much so that experts have had to talk him off a more aggressive timeline for it. But on Friday, Trump seemed to shift his rhetoric on the topic, saying we don’t even need one for the virus to go away. “I just rely on what doctors say,” Trump said when pressed. Except that’s not what his coronavirus task force doctor, Anthony S. Fauci, says. Subscribe to the Post Most newsletter: Today’s most popular stories on The Washington Post Trump offered his new comments about the potential vaccine Friday afternoon at the White House. “I feel about vaccines like I feel about tests: This is going to go away without a vaccine,” Trump said. “It’s going to go away, and we’re not going to see it again, hopefully, after a period of time.”Bing COVID-19 tracker: Latest numbers by country and state Trump said that there could be “flare-ups,” including in the fall, but that it would go away regardless. “There are some viruses or flus that came and they went for a vaccine, and they never found the vaccine,” Trump said. “And they’ve disappeared. They never showed up again. They die, too, like everything else.” Pressed on the claim, he doubled down. “They say it’s going to go — that doesn’t mean this year — doesn’t mean it’s going to be gone, frankly, by fall or after the fall,” Trump said. “But eventually it’s going to go away. The question is will we need a vaccine. At some point it’s going to probably go away by itself. If we had a vaccine that would be very helpful.” Fauci, though, has said we need a vaccine. A few weeks ago, Fauci was asked on Fox News about comments Joe Biden had made, that “this isn’t going to be over until we have a vaccine.” Fauci responded: “There’s truth to that. It’s not going to be over to the point of our being able to not do any mitigation until we have a scientifically sound, safe and effective vaccine.” A week earlier, at a White House briefing, Fauci was asked whether we will “truly get back to normal in this country before there’s an actual vaccine that’s available to everybody.” Fauci said we wouldn’t. “If ‘back to normal’ means acting like there never was a coronavirus problem, I don’t think that’s going to happen until we do have a situation where you can completely protect the population,” Fauci said. While the question was specifically about a vaccine, Fauci’s answer seemed to allow for the alternative of a very effective treatment. But Fauci said of the question about the vaccine, “You’re absolutely right.” “I mean, if you want to get to pre-coronavirus, you know, that might not ever happen in the sense of the fact that the threat is there,” he said. “But I believe, with the therapies that will be coming online, and with the fact that I feel confident that over a period of time we will get a good vaccine, that we will never have to get back to where we are right now.” Trump’s comments also contrast with what he said a few days ago in a Fox News town hall. Trump at the time said the country is in “need” of a vaccine. “And I want it — I need the vaccine,” Trump said Sunday. “We need — this country needs the vaccine. And you’re going to have it by the end of the year. I firmly believe it. I may be wrong.” ETA - Highlighted all the “Trump speak” where he adds an escape clause to everything he says that sounds like it is a promise or reassurance that he knows what he is doing.

Simply said: Trump doesn't understand science. The only ambition he has is to be onstage under the lights and he doesn't care about America.

If You Found That ‘Plandemic’ Video Convincing, Read This TooFrom the article: Does wearing masks make us more susceptible to the coronavirus? No. The video says that masks “activate” the virus. Where’s the evidence for that? There isn’t any. (This, by the way, is a specific claim that Facebook cites in removing the video as misinformation. “Suggesting that wearing a mask can make you sick could lead to imminent harm, so we’re removing the video,” the company told the New York Times.)

This should make you feel safe. Just got off the phone with my mom. Remember, she works for a doctor's office at the hospital. Due to the slowdown in patient visits, she's been assigned to checking in people when they get to the hospital and taking their temps.
Her thermometers are so accurate they are registering temperatures in the 80s. You know, temps low enough that you'd be dead if they were accurate. Does the hospital administration care? Nope. As long as you're not registering with a fever, come on in.

Just got back from Dollar General where I got a few more things. That's the second store I was at today where I was the only one wearing a mask.
This must be a way of telling Gov. Whitmer that she may take our lives, but she'll never take our freeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDOM!!!!

From a CNN article some of the dialogue (not sure if it was “testimony”) by Fauci in Congress today.
See I’m troubled that despite having seen no one, not a single person anywhere, say that a vaccine might be available in 18 months at the earliest the “Chairman of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee would ask about a vaccine being available by September. How can he ask that question and look like he knows anything about his role?
From the article.
“ Earlier in the day, Republican Sen. Lamar Alexander of Tennessee, the chairman of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, asked whether a vaccine would play a role in helping children return to school in the fall.
Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, testified that "would be a bit of a bridge too far" given the current estimate of when a vaccine could be available. Instead, he said testing would be the crucial factor.
"The idea of having treatments available or a vaccine to facilitate the reentry of students into the fall term would be something that would be a bit of a bridge too far," he said.
Alexander had asked Fauci about vaccine at the top of the hearing.
"Even at the top speed we're going, we don't see a vaccine playing in the ability of individuals getting back to school this term," Fauci said. "What they really want is to know if they are safe."

Straight from the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corp). What I found interesting in this article is what happened in Seoul where they are thought to be handling things very well. One infected guy went to 5 night clubs one night at the beginning of May. This infected 100 other people and using aggressive contact tracing they found they needed to test over 10,000 people because of this one guy. I don’t recall if he was symptomatic when he was out or not but that’s not the point. It is just how easy this thing can get completely out of hand if people are not really careful about how they handle themselves in public. Listen, I need the economy open again as soon as anyone does. Being closed for 3 weeks cost us a huge load of cash. We could not do that for very long and still be around. But it is so important that if we want the economy open we must carefully follow safe measures that are put in place. www.cbc.ca/news/health/south-korea-germany-lessons-lifting-lockdown-1.5566485

I hate to say it but there is no way the schools can adhere to that, if it's true. Especially since most schools funding has been drastically reduced by this.

This is something that us furriners don’t fully understand. I also realize all ‘mericans aren’t like this but it is kind of the general feeling we get from the outside looking in. Just like the guy who felt he needed to carry a rocket launcher into a Subway to prove some point (which point he proved is still not determined). “Waking up in a free country” is great. But if you do and you want to shop at a Costco and they have said you need to wear a mask if you want to shop there it is not really an infringement on your rights any more that saying “not shirt, no shoes, no service” at restaurants. Don’t be a dick about it, just put on a mask. I’ve worn one on my last few outings, the surgical variety, and anyone who says it makes it hard to breathe is out and out lying. NBC report btw. www.msn.com/en-ca/news/world/video-shows-costco-worker-handle-man-berating-him-over-mask-you-need-to-leave/ar-BB14nzyL?li=AAggv0m

Thing is, the ADA guidelines say that reasonable accommodations need to be made, and for stores, one of those reasonable accommodations is for the customer to go online, place their order, then have it ready for pick up curbside, or even delivered. If the store doesn't have online ordering, the customer can call.

Don’t be a dick about it, just put on a mask. I agree 100 percent with that. Reggie and I have yet to wear masks anywhere but that's only because our last Costco run was before it was required. We do have masks in both vehicles just to be sure we're ready for the next trip to Costco or anywhere else we want to go that requires one. I believe that any business who wants to require employees and/or customers to wear masks on their premises has every right to do so just like anyone who doesn't like that rule is free to stay away.

I equate the mask rule by businesses the same as the No Shoes, No Shirt, No Service rule. I believe businesses have the right to deny service to customers as long as it is not discriminatory. On a side note, my wife makes. She has made over 300 masks so far. We have donated them to the local community center and distributed them to people in my neighborhood. We have an HOA and there are 175 homes in my neighborhood / HOA. We have a Facebook group for our neighborhood and my wife posted there weeks ago if anyone needs a mask let her know. She makes them in adult and kid sizes. I deliver them in our neighborhood. I put them in mailboxes in bags. As you may or may not know I live in Pittsburgh, or rather a suburb of Pittsburgh, Moon Township. We are now in the yellow phase and are supposed to go to the green phase next Friday, the 29th. I just hope the private pool we belong to, and already paid our dues in February, opens. They were thinking they might close for the year but Governor Wolf has declared any pool in a county in the yellow or green phase can open with a precaution plan in place.
