A scathing article about the British Government's response to the Pandemic from two Doctors...
Meanwhile the Prime Minister's Chief Advisor, Dominic Cummings, broke Lockdown rules, but the political machine and even the national press and a senior BBC reporter are doing huge amounts of spin to say that it was "essential travel"

Whilst the UK media is concentrating on a senior government advisor who thinks that the rules are for others, but not for him, the UK now has the highest rate of deaths from COVID-19 of any country...

Read the small print, "Rolling 7-day average".
Being the back-marker in a race for just a few seconds does not make you the worst runner.

Does anybody else actually find these masks quite disturbing? Yep. But I found Denny Hamlin's mask hilarious.

Right, because being the second or third or even tenth worst still doesn't put you up amongst the front runners...

This is for Graham and Malcolm - what's the deal with Dominic Cummings? Did he take a drive with his Covid positive wife to the countryside? And is true the other politicians are standing up for him?

Basically BoJo can't make a decision without Cummins holding his hand. That makes him safe for now. Throw in a govt of toadies and yes men/women and a servile media and there is really nothing that he could do that would get him sacked.

It was a bit more than a drive to the countryside, he drove half the length of the country. Yes, or more accurately, they daren't speak out against him. If you want my opinion, he should have resigned (and Boris re-appoints him in a few weeks).

This is for Graham and Malcolm - what's the deal with Dominic Cummings? Did he take a drive with his Covid positive wife to the countryside? And is true the other politicians are standing up for him? The short version: He decided that the rules that everyone else were told to abide by didn't apply to him.
The Government said that, if people had symptoms, they should stay home for seven days, and if one member of a household thinks they have symptoms, then the whole household must stay at home for 14 days.
They also said that people must remain "in their primary residence" and "Leaving your home - the place you live - to stay at another home is not allowed" and that "Children should not be left with older grandparents, or older relatives, who may be particularly vulnerable."
Cummings claimed that he had contracted the virus (after this advice was given) and that his wife had also felt very ill.
His child was then ill and was take to hospital by ambulance with his wife, and the next day he drove there to pick them up instead of making arragements with the hospital to have them brought back.
Then he did a 60 mile round trip to Barnard Castle to "check his eyesight" because he wasn't sure it was safe to drive 260 miles home! (The law says that if you think your eyesight is questionable, you must not drive..) The fact that it was his wife's birthday is merely a coincidence, no doubt.
The result: This government has done more to protect the job of one man than they have to protect Health Care workers in three months...
They are a bunch of spineless incompetents who cannot do anything on their own and they *need* him to tell them what to do, but, by defending him, they have delivered a kick in the teeth to everyone else in the country who has stayed home and self-isolated because of a sense of social responsibility.
What is even more insulting is that they've claimed that "He didn't break the rules", gaslighting the entire population by effectively saying "It's not our fault if you didn't understand what we told you to do"!
As always, it's one rule for us and another one for them...

I like that this focuses on evidence-based facts regarding the efficacy of face coverings as 'source control': "A crucially important point, which is often overlooked by doctors, systematic reviewers and the lay press, is that most research on masks and face coverings—almost all of which has been undertaken in the context of health care workers—considers the extent to which they protect the wearer . The current question we need to address is a different one: whether covering the face protects other people from droplets emitted by the wearer —a measure known as source control. Source control works in a different way to wearer‐protection—by blocking large droplets as they are emitted in coughing, sneezing, and talking and before they become aerosolised."

Every Healthcare worker I have heard from has always said that the masks are for source control more than protecting the wearer?

I think I mentioned in here a couple months ago that my dad was at risk of losing his job. Well, he's been back to work full-time. So, that's good news.

We just got word that we'll be starting back in the office next. Starting off 2 days a week, then 3, then 4. then full time by July 6. Good and bad I guess. I like my 30 second commute but I do miss interacting with others.

Is wearing your mask on your chin or with your nose hanging over the top supposed to be cool?

Could it be that all the people we see with their masks below their noses have some breathing problems?

Could it be that all the people we see with their masks below their noses have some breathing problems? I’m thinking no. They just can’t handle wearing it. No point putting it on if it doesn’t cover mouth and nose.

I think they're keeping it there until they're in a situation where they need it.
I get headaches from them and all I'm doing is driving for Uber.

I leave mine on; but pull it down when I'm away from people (mostly outside). It's 6' OR a mask (in Colorado), I pull it up when 6' isn't possible.

Even when I'm skiing and it's really cold or there's snow falling, although the rest of my face is covered with a balaclava, goggles and a neck piece pulled up over my mouth, I cannot have it covering my nose as well for some reason

Dr. Fauci giving the straight and honest answers is impressive. He’s smart. He’s avoiding taking sides. He’s keeping politics out of it. This is how things should be handled. He just needs a boss who will shut his own pie-hole and listen to good advice. That is one thing smart bosses do. They listen to smart people. Dumb people declare themselves to be “the smartest” in the rtoom. Now I will grant that this article (NY Times) dips into some editorial when they kinda roast Trump for saying “Can you please stop testing so much” in Tulsa. Many news stories from many outlets doing the same too. Yes, even I know it was an attempt at humour. But it wasn’t funny. Not really a joking matter. It was in incredibly poor taste to make light of so many people getting sick or dying. It was a missed opportunity to get a message out that might actually help the US control the virus. He could have said “We’re getting more positives because we’re doing more testing but that’s how we’re going to control the spread and get our country back to normal.” Why is that so hard for this guy to do? www.msn.com/en-ca/news/coronavirus/fauci-citing-disturbing-surge-tells-congress-the-virus-is-not-under-control/ar-BB15TyHG?li=AAggNb9#image=BB11sfut|3

"Is he a mugger, or just trying to avoid getting COVID-19?"
Or, as a black man says in the article "I want to stay alive, but I also want to stay alive..."

My supervisors 33 year old nephew and two of his team mates tested positive for COVID last week. Charlie was the only one with symptoms. The only family he's been around is his wife and she tested negative.
