Rob, I think to be a leader they should say I don't want the vaccine until all health care workers, first responders, and those at risk get the vaccine first. And then once those people have it they can put on their dog and pony show for the rest of the population. Until the aforementioned people have the vaccine the "leaders" can go to the end of the line and wait.

Nobody but nobody has said that the past President’s will get it first. They just volunteered to have it administered publicly when they do get it to help instill confidence in the people. That is absolutely leadership. Thinking Mank must have me “blocked” or something because he keeps repeating the same false claim. That or the Trump kool-aid is powerful in PA. A state which DT lost in the election.

That is leading by example. Too many people believe the vaccine is not safe, including people at risk. Do you not know that?

Nobody but nobody has said that the past President’s will get it first. Far as I know, only anti-vaxxers have suggested politicians get the vaccine first.

I'll only get the vaccine if it becomes a legal requirement and even then, only if it impacts my ability to find work. Normally, a fast tracked vaccine takes 8 years. This has taken 8 months. I don't trust government at all. Let alone government funded science. Hell, I'm not even willing to take the daily medication (insulin) I need to survive so I have plans to take this or any other vaccine that isn't required. it took me a while to come to terms with the fact that nothing has changed for me since the whole distancing thing has started, but, I haven't missed much of anything beyond the occasional concert so it's nota huge deal.

I'm most definitely not an anti-vaxxer, hell, in about an hour I'm going to get my first ever annual Flu Jab (I'm officially Old...!) but, given the ability of the UK Tory party to screw up everything about this Pandemic, simultaneously trying to do everything on the cheap *and* squander billions of public money on eg PPE that doesn't meet basic standards by giving lucrative contracts to their mates (this takes REAL talent!), I wouldn't put it past them to fuck up the vaccine too.

Hell, I'm not even willing to take the daily medication (insulin) I need to survive so I have plans to take this or any other vaccine that isn't required. There is a difference between "government funded" (ie paid for from taxes) and "government controlled".
The point is that *because* the pharmaceutical companies had that funding *in advance* meant that they could develop new technologies which had been being worked on already, but which could now be brought on stream much more quickly, plus the advent of DNA sequencing which wasn't previously available to vaccine manufacturers.
There's also the fact that, usually, it takes a long time to recruit people for trials, but, with COVID, people were virtually queueing up to join in.
One other thing: Normally tests on vaccines are done on a few hundred people at most.
The Pfizer vaccine has been tested on over *forty three thousand*!

Rob,
You think it is leading by example and I don't. I don't care if any president, politician, etc. gets the vaccine. It has no influence on me whatsoever. I look at it as a dog and pony show not leadership. I understand you may view it as leadership I don't. As I have said over and over the health care workers should get it first, then first responders, then those in high risk categories. Unless one of those morons are in one of those groups I don't care that they get the vaccine. Why would anyone trust anything a politician does or says? I will get the vaccine if and when it is available I don't need those ass wipes to get it before I do to show me it is safe. It is NOT leadership in my opinion. I am not saying they are getting it before any of the aforementioned groups but they are definitely going to try to get the vaccine before the general public. And, in my opinion they should not.

I've seen a couple of reports that a fever is down on the list of COVID symptoms, but the loss of smell and taste are still up there, with the aches. I propose that entities that have been doing temperature checks now have an opaque container holding a substance with a distinct smell, and to enter you must identify, or at least react appropriately to the smell.

Well, isn't this ironic the man who ruined a lot of businesses in Pennsylvania and preached about staying home has tested positive for Covid. Governor Wolfe

Overheard on a street near me today.
"It's all government propaganda, isn't it. My mate got Covid and didn't die, so what is there to worry about?"
God help us all.

What good will that do for those of us that have no sense of smell to begin with. I have no idea what fresh cut grass smells like. Can't smell most cooking. The only pleasurable smell to me is burning rubber, which most don't like. Can't smell rotten foods. I can barely smell the rotten egg smell found in propane.

I fart a lot around my wife. She complains about the smell but I just tell her I am making sure you don't have Covid-19.
