Just wondering if anyone has thought about changing their vote on this poll now versus when it first went up. I mean the US is losing lives now at the pace of 9/11 every day now.

Don't give the vaccine to the essentials first. If it fails, everyone is screwed. Give it to the most useless members of society first. Let them serve as the lab rats.

Did you know - when a family of meerkats come across an unknown danger, such as crossing a road, they will send the kids first to see if it is safe.
The adults can always make more babies, but the kids can't survive without the adults.

Mank, You missed my point. Trump could encourage others to take precautions if he did with a lead by example and the country would be better for it.
Your response was Trumpian, you don't give a damn about the country, only yourself.

Yes, I would change my vote if I could. I still don't think the virus would take me down if I caught it, but when I started this thing, I wasn't asking only about ourselves. In the beginning, I didn't think it would get this bad. I didn't think this many people would die.

You thought I was trying to scare people at first and got a bit upset with me. I was certainly being an alarmist but I think it was for good reason and out of concern for my friends in the US as you came to understand in time. Be well there sir.

Here's some quotes from my original post from back in February:
I still think that the way the media covered this at the start was misguided, their coverage was alarmist and based on very limited facts and seemed to be more aimed at clickbait headline grabbing than giving a reasonable assessment of the situation.
This is, regrettably, still true, viz the large number of care home deaths in the UK.
The last part of this was actually most concerning, although at least, now, there seems to be a realisation amongst most people (apart from ardent Trump supporters) that this isn't some evil Communist conspiracy, so the racist attacks have diminished.
Unfortunately, in this country, we had BoJo deciding that "herd immunity" was a good idea and that he was going to be the "Superman of Capitalism" by refusing to change his policy, even when the scientific evidence was showing how irresponsible and dangerous it was.
He has still failed to listen and thus we've had him saying that we wouldn't have a two week "circuit breaker" lockdown, until such a time that he realised that we needed one, and he was forced to go for four weeks instead of two.
Now we have had him saying that he wasn't going to cancel Xmas, but suddenly we've got reports of a more contagious strain of the virus (which, apparently, he'd been warned of previously) and he's now panicking and having to add a new Tier to our Lockdown and screw up everyone's plans because he's just noticed that he got it wrong again.
I admit that I was wrong on this, but, again, this was based on insufficient information about the transmissibility of the virus and the mortality rate.
So whilst I still wouldn't say I was "very concerned", I would say that I'm more concerned than the "not very concerned" that I voted previously.

I voted "very concerned". Had there been a "concerned" option, I would have chose that, then and now.

Another thing, I didn't think this topic would carry on as long as it has. Most of my topics fall flat. I remember that well Rob. You thought I was trying to scare people at first and got a bit upset with me. I was certainly being an alarmist but I think it was for good reason and out of concern for my friends in the US as you came to understand in time. I remember. I pop off at everyone. I'm retarded like that. I voted "very concerned". Had there been a "concerned" option, I would have chose that, then and now. I should've made the poll options "Concerned" and "Not concerned", but then, I guess, I figured everyone was at least a little concerned about it.

I've switched to very concerned. We're at level 3 here but die to go back to level 3+ (whatever that means on 28th Dec. Level 5 is complete lockdown. looking at how folks are behaving at present we are on for another surge just after christmas. I was glad when the gyms re-opened but the last few times that I've been there I have been the only person wearing a mask. Everybody else (including the staff) seem to be relying on the 2m distancing which is dubious in an area filled with water droplets from heavy breathing. I'm now debating with myself will I keep going as I have two risk factors already and I'm exposed enough in the pharmacy as it is.

I would have thought that a gym was one of the least safe places, hot, sweaty and so on.

I hear a lot of people expressing their need to go to the gym. I wonder, does anyone have their own exercise equipment at home? I work out on my heavy bag and speed bag every day.

I hear a lot of people expressing their need to go to the gym. I wonder, does anyone have their own exercise equipment at home? I work out on my heavy bag and speed bag every day. I was a regular gym goer before the first Lockdown in March, doing Les Mills Body Combat twice a week and Body Pump class once a week (and also going swimming on Saturdays), but I actually stopped before the Lockdown because I didn't want to risk catching the virus and bringing it home to put my severely asthmatic girlfriend at risk.
I did go back to classes a couple of times between the two Lockdowns, there were fewer people, so distancing in the classes was more like 3+ metres than 2, also, outside the classes, everyone was using masks and hand santiser etc, plus the showers were not available.
At home I've got a cross trainer and a rowing machine and I try to do at least 15 minutes HIIT on one of them each day. During the summer I was doing two sessions (one on each) one in the early afternoon around lunch time and then one in the evening. The biggest issue is that, frankly, I find it pretty tedious, even when I can watch something on TV whilst I'm working out.
At least in gym classes, there are other people and the instructor to interact with, challenge yourself against etc.
I also have a Swiss Ball at home which I use for back exercises and a few months ago I bought a set of "Power Strokes" which are like bungees with hand grips that you can use to exercise your shoulders and lats. All of this is to work muscles for surfing.
Recently I've been too busy with business stuff to do more than one workout a day, but since there's not going to be a skiing season this winter and I won't be going surfing again until next spring, it's not quite as much of a PITA as it might have been.
After the New Year I should hopefully be able to do more exercise again.

Your response was Trumpian, you don't give a damn about the country, only yourself. Gimpy, You are missing my point. Let's say it was Biden in office now. Anything he says or does has very little effect on my life. I have said this before too, the President of USA has very littel effect on my life. Most presidents don't have much effect on our day to day lives if you think about it. I trust the scientists not ANY politician. And I do NOT see my response as Trumpian I am not sure what that means. I do not see how my answer is only concern for myself. That is quite a stretch to go from me thinking politicians getting the vaccine before essential workers is wrong to not caring about the country. I would beg to differ my argument has been essential workers, healthcare works, first responders, get the vaccine first. Tell me which part of that doesn't show concern for my country? You sir are 100% wrong.

Mank, You still missed my point. Trump could convince his "followers" to do almost anything, including wearing a mask That would benefit everyone and you don't give a damn if he does or not since it doesn't affect you!

I hear a lot of people expressing their need to go to the gym. I wonder, does anyone have their own exercise equipment at home? I work out on my heavy bag and speed bag every day. I’ve been a gym goer for a few years now. I signed up with a Personal Trainer and that is honestly what kept me going. My wife did same time so she’d work with the PT Tuesday and I would Thursday but we’d both go both days so it kept us going twice weekly each. That came to a stop in March. We did get going again around July? But it’s stopped again now. Our gym was managing pretty well I thought. Limiting people pretty well and lots of sanitizing. Anyway at home we have a doorway chin-up bar which really is just a mount for a set of TRX bands. They’re very versatile and you can do quite a variety of exercises using your body weight for resistance. I also have a road bike on a Wahoo Kikr stand and I ride on Zwift which is an online simulation of riding all around the world. This is just in winter of course, in warmer weather I just bike ride. Haven’t played hockey since about 1st of March and might have had a long shot Covid exposure there very early on during the 2nd last time before stuff closed. Back to at home, I have a 10 lb. medicine ball. We just got a 40 lb. kettle bell that has removable 5 lb plates so you can adjust the weight. Also got a stability ball last week finally. I have on order a small barbell/dumbell set too. Can do a number of body weight things too like push-ups, crunches, calf raise and so on.

Mank, The way you keep saying things like "I don't care" and "It doesn't have an effect on my life" suggests you don't care about the people in our country whose lives IT DOES HAVE AN EFFECT ON!You only care about your own life. What Gimpy is trying to drive home to you is, a great many of Trump's supporters have said they will not get the vaccine, just like a great many of Trump's supporters are refusing to wear masks and take the pandemic seriously. If Trump was to step up and be vaccinated on TV, a good percentage of those supporters of his would probably follow his lead and get themselves vaccinated TOO! Because these people, unlike you, do not trust the scientists. These people trust the politicians. Never mind whether Trump, Biden, Obama, Pence, Bush or Clinton gets the vaccine first. Never mind whether first responders, medical workers and high-risk people get the vaccine first. Who gets the vaccine first is not the point. The point is, the leaders of our country can inspire, encourage and lead people, people who otherwise would not get vaccinated, to get the vaccine. The more people vaccinated, the better off the country will be. Considering that you don't know who the Proud Boys are, maybe you also don't know that a large percentage of Americans have declared they will not be vaccinated. I do NOT see my response as Trumpian I am not sure what that means. TrumpiannounA selfish anti-American who voted for Donald Trump in the 2016 and 2020 United States Presidential Election. Trumpians are often described as having a lack of concern for their fellow countrymen. Also, I don't know who the proud boys are nor do I care. This bubble of ignorance that you insist on living in will not do. The Proud Boys are the white supremacist organization that President Donald Trump treats as if they are his personal paramilitary. You might know that if you watched the Presidential Debate a couple months ago. But I don't think you would care if you did know that. Because it has no effect on your life, it only has an effect on the lives of other people.

Well that got a wee bit crossed up as I didn’t say that about Proud Boys but did reply to a post Mank made, Just an editing error I’m sure.
But as you are saying if you choose to be part of a society there is some obligation to be responsible to the society.

Gimpy, As I said I don't give a damn what ANY politician does... they aren't that important to me. I don't need a politician to show me or tell me what is the right thing to do for my fellow Americans. That IS my point. I KNOW what the right thing to do for my fellow country men, wear a mask, which I do, social distance etc. I have enough intellegence and empathy for my fellow man that I don't care or need to know what any politician does, I do it on my own. And, I don't give a flying you know what about what any Trump follower does or doesn't do. People should be smart enough to know what is the right thing to do.

On a positive note, my son, who is a Doctor of Radiology, who reviews CT scans, MRI scans, PET scans, etc., and also peforms procedures on patients was vaccinated today at the hospital where he works. I find it a bit amazing since only a few hundered thousand people have been vaccinated so far. I tried to check the total numbers in the US but the number is hard to find. I think it is less than 500,000 people. A very small percentage of the population of the US.

The gym I use made some major re-modelling during lockdown. They covered over the swimming pool which I think they wanted to do for a long time but would have faced resistance from a cohort of the users. The ones who used the pool were mostly elderly and these are the ones who are staying away now. They have used all the extra space to distance all the pieces of equipment 2m apart. The changing rooms and showers are off limits so you now show up ready to go and leave in the same way. All the water fountains are gone as well. If I had the space I'd put a cross trainer in the shed but for now it's full of other crap. The numbers using the gym are way down for now but I'll re-assess in the new year when there is usually a boom. (That's if it is still open.)

Frodi, There were four gyms located within a few miles of where I work. Three of them closed because they weren't allowed to be open for a long period of time thanks to Governor Wolf. I know anytime I went to the gym before Covid the gyms were the cleanest places. Everybody wiped down equipment before and after use of a machine with alcohol wipes. Those gyms were always germ free. Now three of those gyms are closed and we are on lockdown again until January 4, 2021. I don't know if the last gym near me will make it either. I know they were on the brink of closing too.

Ireland is going to full lockdown just after xmas but they are allowing gyms to stay open with some restrictions. Personal hygeine by others is better now than it has been previously but I still don't trust it fully. I'll make a call on it in the new year but for now I veering towards staying away.
