Hey now, before you go bashing American cuisine, my friend posted her chicken parmesan on Facebook tonight. Apparently, it consists of parmesan cheese mixed with spaghetti sauce over some sort of chicken abomination. When I saw that, my crush faded away because I realized she was bat shit. Jim, That sounds like chicken Alfredo which is delicious. Alfredo is a cream sauce. Jim described Chicken Parmesan which is IMO quite delicious. Italian style food is for sure my favourite.

The main problem with American cuisine is that 75% of it involves a yellow rubbery product. Aside from fast food burgers, nothing I know of uses that stuff. The hotel that we stayed at for the Mohican party had 20 main courses on the menu. 17 involved cheese.

America is to fine cuisine as The Vatican is to prostitutes. The know the general idea but have F all use for them. The Vatican doesn't need prostitutes, they have altar boys. Touchee

Now peanut butter.....man I could live on that if I had to. Now *that* stuff is revolting!
As is American "chocolate" which contains the same chemical that is found in vomit...

I only eat Peanut Butter where the ingredients list reads “Peanuts.”

Happy New Year to one and all. Only 3 and a bit hours to go here. Just waiting on our Chinese take away and a bottle of wine.

Happy New Year all! Hope ‘21 brings all of us better things even if it takes a while to sort it.
Gotta feeling ‘21 is gonna be a good year.....
Anyone know the reference?
Unrelated we bought a ticket to an online streaming show by a Canadian comedian named Ron James for tonight. We’ve always enjoyed his humor. Anyway tonight he did say that he was reading about the 1918 Spanish Flu Pandemic and the writer noted that what followed was the “roaring ‘20’s” so maybe we got something like that to look forward to too.

That one was 1200 pieces. So many parts that were only 1 square! The next one is almost 3600 pieces and is a bit more ambitious.

Even I as a committed Mancunian knows that one. (And the name is on the edge). But what have you got on the fourth plinth? (It looks like an egg?)

FWIIW, one of Shell's favorite meals was Chicken Parm. And once she found out I made a damn good sauce, one of her favorite things to say was "I got something for you, it's in the fridge". There would be the fixin's for Chicken Parm. As far as grits go, if you havent eaten them in a Southerners home or a true Southern restaurant, you havent had grits. Kind of like saying you dont like Chicago pizza because the "Chicago Pizza" at the place in Monroe, Ga wasnt any good. Or you dont like Skyline Chili because you got a can from Piggly Wiggly. In my opinion, yellow grits are the best. They are exactly the same thing as Polenta. Italy just has different varieties of corn. Just like a sweet onion from Texas is good, but it is not exactly like a Vidalia Onion from Vidalia, Ga. Mank, next time you fix Shrimp and Grits, use chicken broth instead of water to cook the grits, it adds a whole 'nother flavor dimension. Malc, the Mohican party was at an Ohio State Park, the food service was most likely the result of the lowest bidder. I too remember looking at the menu and saying "ugh, I think I'll stick to beer". It by no means was representational of anything like American food.

Hold up. You're responsible for her sauce?? Fuck, that shit's delicious. You could have retired years ago by marketing that stuff.

We’ll be looking for that sauce recipe over in the JAD Cookbook then?

Pasta for dinner at our house tonight. Already got the sauce on to stew all afternoon. It tastes fantastic already and it isn’t even warm yet. All home made ingredients or at least fresh for the stuff we can’t grow here.

Thank=you Malc and Jeanette. Been a tough day. We’re working on finding things to smile about as we think about him though. He sure was a happy fellow. Always a smile and a huge laugh.
