I've visited many of the light houses on the bike as part of various charity ride outs and photo rallies. We almost take them for granted. Most are in fairly spectacular locations. Only proviso is that some decent weather is needed. I visited one on Arannmore last year and was nearly blown away. I had to hold the bike with one hand while taking a photo with the other. Still fun all the same.

The engineering of those lighthouses on rocks is amazing.
If you can get access to it from streaming services etc, Secret Life of the Lighthouse (I think it also went by the title "Lighthouses, Building the Impossible" is an excellent series about the building of many of the UK's most famous lighthouses.

Thanks Graham. I will have to see if I can find that on Prime, HBO MAX, or Netflix. Those are the three streaming services I have.

I have to raise a toast the Detroit Lions - they've one their 2nd playoff game. Anything after the first has been gravy for us fans.

If you aren’t watching the Grammys you missed Tracey Chapman and Luke Combs doing a duet of “Fast Car” and let me tell you it was awesome and moving to watch! They knocked it out of the park and Luke’s story he told of it being his favourite song growing up was really good.

OMG I feel old!
Last night, having been selling my products at a market in London, I got on the Tube at Embankment, going to Waterloo (one stop) and a young lady got up and offered me her seat...

Today is a new Bank (Public) Holiday in Ireland. And gawd is it boring. Nothing on, weather miserable and most folk are still short on money after xmas. After walking the dog I spent some time doing bits and pieces on the bike. And it's still only 5:30. It's going to be a long night.

A long weekend in February in Canada. Woo frickin hooo. Ours is called Family Day. I think it’s a cruel joke. “Get shut in your house with your family because it is cold and miserable outside day.”

When I posted that Joni hadn’t been on yet but was the reason I tuned in. I also liked Stevie Wonder, Annie Lennox and Billy Joel’s performances too.

Thanks everybody.
It was such a shock. He was a coworker with my wife. My wife retired last year but we had numerous lunches and attended parties with him at our house and his house. As I said we are in shock my wife had lunch with him two days before he died. You just never know. He was in good health too or so we thought. It seems, without an autopsy, that his heart just stopped, a heart attack is the guess. But, he was found sitting peacefully on his couch with a bowl of potato chips. The chips were undisturbed.
When things like this happen it is hard to wrap your head around it especially since he was only 55.

I'm cooking that turkey I blogged about a while back. First time cooking a turkey. It's in the oven now. I swear to God, I'm going to screw this up. I just hope the thing about turkey catching fire in the oven is a myth.
I almost did not find the plastic bag inside the turkey that Mank warned me about. I was thinking that maybe this one didn't have a bag in it and was about to give up looking for it when I found it. So, it likely won't be Mank's nightmare, but it will probably end up being Jim's nightmare.

It was real good and it was not dry. I don't know how I did it. Maybe it was the roasting pot I used.
I'll be eating turkey sandwiches over the next couple days.

Loves me some leftover turkey sandwich!! I have never heard of a turkey catching fire in the oven. You’d have to really overdo something badly for that to happen.

If any of you make your way to Watertown, NY on April 8th I might plan on being there myself as Watertown is dead-center on the path of the solar eclipse that day with totality around 3:25 PM.

I wish I could. I have to work, but I plan on heading outside to take a look. I'm in fringe, so not totality, but it should still be interesting.

Well I just checked hotel rooms and if I can even get one the room that is usually $129 is $539 right now so looks like I will stay home that week.

Sorry Marty, some other time. Watertown looks real nice. I've always wanted to see some of the "Old" America, all I have ever seen is concrete and glass.

Sorry Marty, some other time. Watertown looks real nice. I've always wanted to see some of the "Old" America, all I have ever seen is concrete and glass. Watertown does have some “old” bits. But most of the restaurants, etc are the “same-old, same-old” you find all across America. There are exceptions though. If you do ever make a journey there Malc go 15 minutes west to Sackets Harbour. Some interesting War of 1812 sites out there (granted the history posted is American and not British! LOL). It was a US Naval base back then. Anyway there are 2 restaurants in particular in Sackets Harbour that I love. Good Fellos is great Italian pasta and brick oven pizza. The other is called Tin Pan Galley. In the summer they have a large patio garden area to sit and they often have live music. Food is great at both places. There are others too. Sackets Harbor Brewing does make some nice beers in their microbrewery but their restaurant is also very good. Other places too but I’m such an Italian food junkie I usually go to Good Fellos.

On that note we are coming up on the 20th Anniversary of the day my little (bigger now!) company made our first roll of tape in Watertown. April 8th off the top of my head. What I do know is it was a Saturday. I know I could consult a calendar but can’t be bothered at the moment.
