Ah, hockey. A load of schoolgirls running round a field in short skirts trying to hit a ball with a stick, but only being allowed to use one side of it. In Canada we don’t have to preface it with the word “Ice” to know which sport I refer to. Those fellows are some of the toughest men in the world that will play through injury. Unlike Football players who are mortally wounded, even if no contact actually occurs.

For hard men you need to watch rugby. I agree with that assessment. I played semi-pro football and semi-pro rugby and from my own experience rugby players are tougher. I would even say it is a bit harder to play than football. I wonder how that player got hit in the head. You are not allowed to hit anyone in the head in rugby.

What you're "allowed" to do in Rugby and what actually happens are not necessarily the same thing...

Well London was a mixed bag. Flight out was delayed so we ended up doing a quick search for somewhere to eat on Friday night. Wimbledon town has a shite selection of restaurants. Found a pizza place in the end. Saturday we went up to London to find somewhere to watch the Ladies Singles final on a big screen. Ended up getting tickets for Tina that night so we dashed back, watched the match on a big screen in Wimbledon town and up for dinner and a show in London proper. Got back late and collapsed into bed. Sunday we walked to AELTC and watched the wheelchair finals on court 1. After a bit of (hugely overpriced) lunch we went to the hill to watch the men's final. We couldn't get anywhere near it as it was jammed from about 11am. Ended up watching it in court 2 where they were using the score boards as a sorta big screen. Afterwards walked back to Wimbledon town and ate in a Mexican place. Monday we went back to Regent Street etc for some retail therapy. In all it was a bit disappointing as there were very few stores that we couldn't get in Dublin town or in the Dundrum shopping centre which is about 15 minutes form our house. Chain stores have really taken over.Dinner was in a noodle chain restaurant which we could have had in Dublin. Overall Wimbledon is ticked off the bucket list and won't be in a hurry to repeat. London is now a destination that we will go for a specific event and get home as quick as possible afterwards. We've been there so many times that there is really little we want to see or do. Surprisingly the high point for me was the show that we weren't going to do but just decided on a whim as we were passing the theatre and there was a notice that they release tickets daily for that evenings performance. The tickets were to be release at 12 noon and we passed at 11:55. The tickets cost £40 (about $50/€50) each which is about half what they would have cost us in Dublin. Dublin is fast becoming an expensive town. And I now have a bag full of brownie points.

Anyone who says beer never helps is a liar. Any of you who read the crap I post in my blog or follow me on Facebook know that over the last couple days I have been in a very dark mood. A few different things occurred since yesterday evening, but one of the things have been majorly bad. All I'm gonna say publicly about that one majorly bad thing is, I had to take this picture with an old cell phone that I haven't used in a few years and that no longer has a connection because my newer phone is turned off and in a drawer so I won't have to see any messages from certain people right now. I had a 12-pack of this cheap Miller piss delivered, and after a few bottles, I'm feeling much better. I even laughed.

And I tell ya, after a few more beers, I begin to think kinder thoughts for people that I'm very angry with. So, most definitely people who say beer never helps are fucking liars.

Talking to me like I don't know anything is what started the fight between me and the family member. The subject was chainsaws and a tree I need to cut down. I have a lot of experience with chainsaws.
I know what alcohol does and doesn't do. I know how it can cause problems, how it has ruined lives and yah, yah, yah. and I'm sure everyone knows a lot of alcoholics and has seen what alcohol does to people.
But I like to be able to enjoy my beer and the comfort it brings me, whether it's a temporary solution or not, without people dropping AA-related comments on me. I was poking at those particular people in my comments above, because I have a special place in my heart for such people.
Rest assured that I'm no stranger to alcohol and alcoholism.

Pirates won again 2-1 over the rival Cardinals. In the previous series they took two out of three from the Phillies who are arguably the best team in baseball right now. Tonight Skenes takes the mound. He has been dominate so far this season. He started the all-star game the other day. Hopefully, the Pirates can score some runs. Their offense has been lacking. The city of Pittsburgh is really getting behind the team this year. The last series against the Phillies they sold out all three games. That hasn't happened in almost a decade.
Go Bucs!

England beat the Windies to go 2-0 up in a three game series, with a whole day to spare.

Reports say they have found "high" levels of cocaine in their systems. Now assuming that the natural level of cocaine in a shark is zero, just how high is high? Would they fail a roadside drugs wipe? Are they so spaced out they start attacking each other? Or is it just a case of that toothache has gone away?

How much of the summer Olympics will you watch? I will be watching as much as I possibly can. USA! USA! USA! I am not crazy about Simone Biles. I want the USA gymnastics team to do well but not her. I think she quit on the team last time around.

If I could watch less than none of the Olympics, I would. I wasn't even aware they were about to take place until very recently.
