The sparks are simply metal be dragged on pavement. They are light weight steel and the normal clearance is about 2 inches. The air brake is to prevent the car from going airborne when it's sliding backwards and as strange as it seems they work quite well.

A question for you motor sport experts - Jim? Some video of a recent race in the US. I have two questions:- Why so many sparks from the vehicles? Is this deliberate? Do they put some sort of special metal plate under the car to generate such plumes of sparks? I've never seen that in any other crash. Second, a couple of the cars seem to have little flaps lifting up at the back of the roof, above the rear wind-shield. Is this some sort of air-brake, like on a plane? Unlike Formula One, NASCAR still uses steel bodied race cars. So, combine that with the cars slamming into the pavement and each other at 200MPH, along with high speed cameras, and you get a big spark show. Watch a car experience a blowout on the highway and you'll see a spark show, too. It's amplified because of the speed and the number of cars involved. The roof flaps are intended to stop the car from flipping over when it spins around. It's a form of passive aerodynamics. Airflow in the wrong direction causes them to deploy.

Plenty of sparks come from F1 cars when they are racing. Either the bottom skid plate is metal or something else hits the ground when the suspension compresses. Not as obvious for day races but in some of the night races under lights in Asia the sparks are quite spectacular at times.

Does ANYONE know how to make Win10 NOT FRIGGIN RESTART on its own? Like AT ALL? I had done two hours of various routing for the rest of the week and took a break to eat dinner. I came back 20 MINUTES later and my windoze login screen was up. No sound. No warning. Just a big 'ol FUCK YOU from windows, AND I lost a couple of hours worth of work!

Are you set for auto updates? Restart hours can be changed.

Mine was already turned off. I did the second one.... renamed reboot to reboot old. We'll see. Thanks!

I now do updates by hand, after a couple of bad releases from M$ for Office caused me to no longer be able to export from my db software to excel format (which I need daily). So many updates had to be uninstalled to fix it that I said the hell with it and disabled all updates in the Services module.

Dan,
When I have to leave unfinished stuff on any of my computers I simply 'hibernate' the machine and come back to it minutes, hours or days later or whenever and pick up where I left off. If I don't do this, my machines are set to turn off (shutdown) after xxx minutes of non-use and then I have to restart and that's where I lose what I was doing...

I don't hibernate or let the computer shut off the monitors, as it screws up the orientation. I have a "smart plug" and just tell the thing to shut off the monitors, but leave the box running like it were in use..

Dan, I tried every tip and trick with hours of online research. It still rebooted without my consent, including during "non-scheduled" hours. The only thing that worked was upgrading to Windows Professional and then adjusting settings to prohibit auto install of updates. As far as I can tell, with the home version of Windows, you simply can't stop it. Win Home does not allow you to disable auto-updates.

Does anybody know if we can change the font for the forum on an individual or group basis. I'm having difficulty telling the difference between i and l. Maybe it's just me and my monitor but I'd like to be able to tell them apart.

Testing Testing Ok, we can change the font as well as size and color for our own posts. I can vaguely remember a skin option that would also change the text appearance, but whether it was this forum or another, I can't say.

On the advice of several people more knowledgeable than I, this morning I found and downloaded WIN 10 Pro. $39.50 online..... We'll see.....

Great marketing strategy, eh? We'll build a damned annoying feature into our base model, so that everyone has to buy a $40 upgrade. Way to go Microsoft!

Does anybody know if we can change the font for the forum on an individual or group basis.
So it should be possible for the Admins to change one of the skin options to a larger font size.
Alternatively, you can use ctrl-mouse wheel or ctrl+[plus sign] on Windows to simply enlarge the font on your screen.
Or you can use Control Panel / Display to increase the font sizes on all programs.

I can't change the font on an existing theme but if I need to I can build another theme with larger font.

I have an answer for a question that has not been asked. If you use Amazon Prime and find that sometimes your "two day" delivery is more than 2 days, change the name of the person to whom it ships. Example, this past Thursday evening I was ordering some tool bits for the shop and a bottle of Vitamin D for the house. Right before I pulled the trigger, I realized it would be better for there to be two orders since the shop would pay for the bits. When I changed the address for the bits, they were going to try to deliver Saturday and Sunday. Not a good idea, I'm not there on weekends. Change the address to home and it is Monday delivery. Change the name on the home delivery and it is delivered Saturday and Sunday. Same Zip code, less than 2 miles between them.

Has anybody been using FBP (Facebook Purity)? Is it still working for you? It might have been Marty that put me on to it.
Mine seems to have gone away and I don't seem to be able to reinstall it.
::Edit:: Stand down. The re-install has kicked in.

FBP has had trouble of late keeping up with the code changes that FB is making, some seemingly directed straight at FBP (to keep it from working). Occasionally I have to go to settings and disable the FBP app, reable it, and then reload FB to get the app to work.
If you were not aware of it, FB has several "platforms" that it uses, depending on which demographic FB has pigeonholed you. If you ever get on one of the "beta" platforms, all bets are off on how well anything works.

Ah. No not me then. I just use the app for FB. Maybe I should switch. Can it hide the annoying stuff (ads or friends posts) that FB keeps putting back after they tell me “You won’t see posts from ........Anymore?”
