So, ya wanna be a busybody and poke your snout into someone else's biz? Well, hold off until they ask,but here's the place to do it. We ask that you not create a bunch of fresh topics concerning your pitiful personal issues. That's what this fine topic is for.
Got a problem? Need some free advice? Your water heater blew up, and you need brand suggestions? Marriage blew up, and you want a list of questions to ask the lawyers? Why should we relocate to Alabama? Is there any way to convert my frequent flier miles into cash? Who runs the best Alaska cruises? And for your computing related questions ...

OK. Here's the deal. I have a WIFI camera system that I want to set up. 2 WIFI cameras, but I don't want them running off my data. I want to plug in an old Linksys wireless router and run them off-line but tied into my computer. I have my desktop tied into the internet VIA a wifi hotspot (don't judge, it works) and also tie into the non-internet wireless router VIA the desktop. I want to use the desktop as a DVR to keep an eye on the property....
Any thoughts as to how to achieve this? The cameras take too much data to stream (I have a 50 mips connection, but they seem to overload it), and I don't need "live" video - just a recording is fine.
My computer has an I7 processor, 32 gig of RAM, and 6 TB of HD space. It should handle the task. I'm running WIN10.

Try two NICs in the PC. One to the router with a static IP. Set the router to block port 80.

That's why I am thinking a dedicated nic for what you want to do. If you don't set the connections to bridge, the traffic from the two will be isolated.

On the network side, make sure that your 2 networks use different, non overlapping channels and subnets. Use hard coded addresses on the camera side (DHCP is going to be more grief than you want here) and set the default gateway for the cameras to be the address of your PC. You may have to set up a routing table on your PC or it may do it automatically (Cameras that way, everything else to the hotspot).

As anyone else noticed a big drop in Spam messages the last week or 10 days? The ones that no longer show up were various ways to get you to click on a link, usually to unsubscribe from that particular site. Fake FedEx was one of them and now they have disappeared.

I've just checked my Spam folder. I have received one in the last month or so!

I’ve been mostlty getting less emails in general. Though a few I subscribe to ought to be considered spammers.

Yes, it's spellt Earnhardt. I've seen variations without the n, or without the d or without the t.

I understand that it is usual for advertising executives to use photographs to enrich their commercials. But can anybody please tell me what the hell this photo at the head of the page is telling me?

based on the other pictures on the page, seems they are suggesting "time with family". I guess the top pic is supposedly saying "you have time to take your kid to work while we handle your money".

It looks like something a carpenter, draftsman or architect might use, in the same line as a protractor or compass.

It's used for finding and duplicating angle cuts. David probably uses it in carpentry.

Could the ad be about building for the future?

Fidelity is for investments. Having kids in a picture reminds people that their families are depending on them, and they'd better take care of future investments. It's subliminal advertising. Same reason political commercials all seem to show the same images.

I got conned into doing a case in D.C.. It's 100 miles from my house )Heritage Drive in Annandale, VA. It's inside the beltline, or at least right at it..... The appointment is at 9AM. I'm thinking I need to leave at 0530. Drea or anyone else, any thoughts?
BTW, I am coming from 22973, VIA US29 to SR66 to I495. And I'm expecting toll roads. I don't have my EZPass anymore....
The guy in the area *quit* yesterday with 20 or so cases pending, with 3/4 of them past due.... I'm the only inspector certified in full commercial inspections now from Baltimore to Fredericksburg to Winchester to Lynchburg. I advised them to get someone trained ASAP, because I ain't doing this run for long....

66 has tolls as you start getting close to 495, but I don't recall exactly where they start, so you may be fine if you're hopping off at 495. If you do hit a toll and you don't have an ezpass, you'll get a bill mailed, which includes a penalty for not having an ezpass. Toll booths are getting to be a rarity. However, they've changed the ezpass rules - For MD (not sure if things are the same in VA) there's no fee for the transponder itself anymore, and your $25 initial payment all goes towards tolls; they don't have a monthly non-use anymore. But yeah, that time of day, 66 and 495 are all gonna suck.

These Federal employees who aren't getting paid at the moment, will they get back-dated pay when it's all sorted out? Or are they literally working for nothing?

Typically, yes, though it requires a bill be passed through Congress. That will only include direct government employees, contractors are just SOL.

I was working at the call center when the Republicans had their temper tantrum over ACA. Our project was funded in advance, but we were told that if the shutdown lasted longer than that period, we might get furloughed. Fortunately, it didn't last that long.

Can anybody think why there is no sound on some videos that I play, and it's fine on others? For example:- This videoI get no sound, but if I click on any video in the right hand panel, it's fine without me adjusting any controls.
