Sorry, got lost in the description of the proper English woman running a napkin around in her mouth.
Yes, you boil them in the shell. Most raw peanuts that I buy are already washed, but I give them a rinse before I put them in the pot. I also put in a can of "cooking beer" like the one Dan drinks. ( and yes, so you dont have to ask, you open the can of beer).
Now that I think about it, if they were "mush", most likely the person used already cooked (roasted) peanuts. It's really hard to turn them into mush.

The lettering for that one wouldn't show as well on a white background. But the blue in the design doesn't show up as well on the royal blue shirt. Perhaps because white shows stains easily?

So what are you saying? Europeans are professionals who eat with a knife and fork whereas Americans do manual labour and eat with their fingers? Makes sense.

Malcolm, re: Dan's post. He's making reference to a line from a popular (over here) C&W song called 'Something like that'. The lyric line is 'I had a barbeque stain on my white tee shirt...' the song is by Tim McGraw. Its a short story about teenage boys at the county fair chasing girls. We all can identify with it, I know I can, and apparently Dan does too. You can hear the song here: - L -

Personally. I'ma dirt magnet. I cannot wear white without it looking grungy before I leave the house. I never buy light colors for that very reason. If I have a shirt that is white or light gray, I didn't buy it. For the same reason, all of my pants that aren't denim are always black. Never any other color.

We were talking a couple of weeks ago about 'spotters' in the Indy race versus none in F1 racing.
During today's F1 race, it was mentioned that one of the rules is "the drivers must drive the car without assistance".

They could do it on a white T by changing the lettering color. Anyway, I mostly avoid white for the same reason Dan mentioned. Not always BBQ sauce but the second I don a white shirt I am inviting some sort of tomato based sauce to attack me from as far as 6 feet away. Almost never fails.

My wife drinks and drives, not generally successfully. All of her jackets need to be coffee colored.

VideoDo American truckers wear seat-belts? I notice that he didn't actually hit the bridge, he hit a *very* solid steel structure which had clearly been put there to take the impact to prevent damage to the bridge!
A good bit of design

That bridge is notorious for getting hit. It happens monthly, if not weekly. Since it is a train bridge, it needs a bit of protection from the idiots that ignore the multiple warning signs leading up to it.

I spent 8 hours boiling peanuts yesterday. Two went in my mouth, the rest in the trash green recycling bin.

Their site "11foot8.com" gets a new video added just about once a month. There is actually a detector set back from the bridge which detects overheight vehicles that sets off the warning signs and turns the lights red. I'm wondering if the sign should be changed to "You are overheight, You must turn"; rather more mandatory than advisory.

lol - I went down that rabbit hole today Malcolm. I can't get over how many just didn't even notice the flashing signs or the red lights.

Are any of you ex-military types artillery? What the heck is going on here? I've seen less black smoke when a Ukranian farmer tried to run his tractor on pure crude oil!

I have an old tablet that I wish to discard. I honestly don't think anyone would want it, but in case someone does dumpster diving, I have removed all files and apps that I installed, I have made it forget my home WiFi and my Xfinity account, and I have disassociated my google account from it, but, there could be something I can't find. Is there a way to do a mind wipe, or is the best option to physically destroy it? If the second, what hazardous waste do I need to be aware of?
ETA: I found my answer about a factory reset, any suggestions for where to donate it?

I use a MAC as my main computer. If I highlight a word and then right-click it, one of the options is to "search with Google". Sometime in the last few days, this function has changed and is using Yahoo instead, although it is still worded 'Google'.
I have checked in my Safari - Preferences - Search - Search engine, and this is set to Google.
Is this just some annoying little virus that Apple will sort out in the next few days, or should I be more worried?

Not certain Malc though Apple had been trying to distance itself from Google in other areas for sure.

Mine collects old phones & gives them to women's shelters.

This is driving me nuts. My Mac has hung up for the fourth time today. This is being sent via my old Windows laptop.
Symptoms: Safari is up and running for anything from half an hour to three hours, then the app just hangs. The only way to recover is a full system reboot. Just closing the app and re-opening it leaves it hung. It happens when I am on either wifi or hard wired to my router. Other apps (Word, Excel) seem to work fine. When Safari is hung, my Windows machine, on wifi, can access the web. It can also ping the Mac and get an answer.
Any offers? Can I reinstall Safari?

Have you tried dowloading Chrome or some other browser to see if that works without hanging? The forums on Apple.com have pretty extensive info. Likely a thread about it if it happens to others. Also MacRumors.com has a wealth of knowledge in their forums. I think you can delete the Safari app and reinstall. I kind of forget the procedure though. Something like drag the app to the trash, empty the trash bin. Reboot the computer? Then download from apple app store and install? But I’d get other replies first or check in some of those forums.

Thanks Marty. One of the forums pointed me towards ETRECHECK, a free app that performs a systems check.
It found two lots of adware, the first loaded on 6th July, and the second on the 10th. It guided me through deleting all their components, a quick reboot and, fingers crossed, it seems to have done the trick.
And, my beef about Yahoo taking over (see entry on 7th above, is also now fixed.
Remember the name ETRECHECK.

I am looking for a pair of summer slippers, open toe but NOT thong. I have a great pair of winter slippers, but I have to take them off when sitting because they are too warm. I want slide on, and a liner of a material that doesn't get too slick when wet when I put them on after showering. Any suggestions for the words I want when doing a search? Or even suggestions for specific products?
