Say what? That must be a Canadian thing. You'd be pulling back into traffic directly into the hammer lane. Talk about a bad idea. It's breakdown lane that should be avoided unless it's an absolute emergency. Every lane of the highway is moving at 60+ MPH. No different pulling on from either side. That’s just completely false. on a three lane road, the far left is the passing lane, the middle is the travel lane, and the right is the slow vehicl3 lane.

In the UK, the first lane is for the trucks with their cruise-control set at 56 mph. The second lane is for the trucks that have a slighly miscalibrated cruise-control and can do 58 mph. The third lane is for all the cars and vans.

Speed limit is exactly the same in all 3 (or 6) lanes. Slower moving vehicles are supposed to keep right. The left lane is considered a “passing lane” but the speed limit is no higher than the others. They system is supposed to prevent grid lock. How people drive on them is a different story.

Once you have finished overtaking, you should pull back into the left lane.
(Not that many people actually pay any attention to this...)

I have an Asus Zen-pad 10 that's about 6 or 7 years old. Frequently after a full charge, the battery indicator remains at 100%, even after an hour of continuous use. I've tried using a battery widget, but it doesn't show anything different. The only way to clear the 100% is to restart the tablet. This ends up showing a value that is (hopefully) accurate, sometimes as low as 10%, which immediately shuts down the tablet.
Another thing, if the tablet powers down by itself, it will only recharge up to 66%.
Is there anything that can solve these 2 problems?

In my experience, 6-7years is the lifespan of lithium ion batteries. I use a 2015 laptop and replaced the battery last year, it made a huge difference.

I've just returned from 5 days of riving in the UK. (Holyhead to Oxford and back as well as 3 days driving around the general Oxford area.) The question I have for the Brits here is do you generally use your indicators at roundabouts. Most times I seemed to be the only one apart from the trucks.

The question I have for the Brits here is do you generally use your indicators at roundabouts. Most times I seemed to be the only one apart from the trucks. You are supposed to indicate before the exit you want to take.
So, (assuming an roundabout with four exits, North, South, East and West) if you're taking the first exit on the left, you signal left on approaching the roundabout.
If you're going straight ahead, you don't signal on approach, but you indicate left after you pass the first exit.
If you're turning right, you signal right on approach, then signal left after the second exit.
Whether people actually do that or not [include standard comments about BMW drivers here ;-) ] is another matter entirely.
The number of times I've been at a roundabout on either pushbike or motorbike and said sarcastically "Oh thanks for indicating...!" as a car takes an unexpected exit is innumerable.

Ah so. Glad it wasn't just me being paranoid.

Wow. That’s optimistic.
My experience is mostly with Dell products. However, I have almost always experienced battery failure within 2 months of the system warranty expiration, roughly 3 years.

Ah so. Glad it wasn't just me being paranoid. Especially if you're on two wheels, *never* trust that someone will a) indicate at all or b) actually go the direction they're indicating.
The only time I forgot this I got taken out by an idiot who cut across my path when it looked like he was going straight ahead... :-(

This is mainly for Mal and Graham. I had known for some time that Queen Elizabeth II had driven ambulances in WWII, and afterwards she regularly drove herself, she taught her children and grandchildren how to drive, and even terrorized a certain visiting Saudi (I think) dignitary , but I just read that she was also a truck mechanic. I'm curious, did she ever have occasion to use the mechanic skills after she became Queen, either on the regular or a one-off event? For example, a car she was in had a break down and she repaired it?

I believe she did.
I remember reading a while back about her diagnosing a problem with one of her cars when she was (I think) in her 80s or 80s, but I don't recall any other details or whether she actually fixed it herself.
However she did, indeed, scare the Saudi King when he came to visit and offered him a tour of the Balmoral estate, then jumped into a Landrover and drove it herself at quite high speed because, at the time, Saudi Arabia wouldn't let women drive :-)

There is a story that she broke down whilst driving on her own in the mountains above Balmoral. She phoned back down to her staff, who said they would send somebody out to fix it. Her reply was "Fix it? The ABC has snapped, come out of the DEF and broken the XYZ. If it was fixable, I would have fixed it!".

Thank you, guys. Yeah, the Saudi king story gave her personality more depth for me, and knowing all this additional info reinforces that there was more to her than just the face on the money.

I just purchased a couple of eBooks from Baarnes & Noble. They talk about opening on either a NOOK or the NOOK app. I don't have either of these.
How do I access these on my PC?

Can any of you IT sorts please explain this to me. I don't care how many billion customers Vodafone have got, I will not believe that this Username has already been registered. It simply doesn't matter what I type in, it already exists.

I'm going to guess there's a character limit that hasn't been properly coded? It's Vodafone, they don't exactly have crack engineers working there.

Good guess Jim, but no. I added another 40 or so random characters, and it accepted it. I didn't go ahead, because I would never remember it.
They now have all my bank account detail, credit card numbers, address but I don't have an account with them. And I chose them because they were supposed to have better customer service!

My employer is UK based so our ISP is technically Vodafone. They're actually contracted with Frontier for the local provider but all support has to run through Vodafone. I've been less than impressed with their service since switching last fall.

Didn't I see somewhere that they are merging with another provider?
