A question for the left ponders. Last week I was in my local post office when a lady was getting some US currency. She specifically asked that the notes should be dated post 1999 (I think).
Did your currency change and the old ones are going out of circulation? I'm holding quite a few dollars, and I bet some are older than that.

It looks like between 1996 and 2000 is when our notes were redesigned. Link The biggest design change being enlarged portraits.

When I came over for the TN party in 2016, I brought about $1000 in cash. Then paid for all my costs on a credit card and took about $950 home with me. Sigh.

Has it been that long? I think the last party I made was 2014 or so? It was at Ray's.

2016 was the year of the storm. Power lines and trees were down across most of the roads, and I was led astray then abandoned by a church group. I had to call Shell to get directions a couple of times, and it was tough to get reception. After that, I call my GPS/Google Maps Shell.

I think that was 2006. 2016, if there was a party, Shell and I did not go to any parties because we were dealing with our issues.

Does anyone have personal experience with having cataracts removed?

Does anyone have personal experience with having cataracts removed? Not personal, but a friend who did described how amazing it was after his first eye had been done, to be able to see colours properly again!

Does anyone have personal experience with having cataracts removed? Again not personally but I have loads of patients who have had them done. Every one couldn't wait to get second eye done.
B's dad was delighted with his. He was nearly blind in one eye from long ago and if he didn't get the good eye done it was the end of his driving licence. No regrets from him.

Had both cataracts done about 6 years ago. No problem and you will like dark glasses!

I have a bunch of questions about the cataract operation, well, about people's experiences.
Did you have both eyes done at the same time? If not, why not?
Were you fully awake the entire time?
Do you have any tips for dealing with the healing? How long did the full healing process take? I know everyone heals differently, I'm just looking for a general idea.
If you wore glasses or contacts before, did you need to after? I mean, did they correct near/farsightedness and astigmatism?
Is there anything you wish someone had told you before you had it done, something you had to find out the hard way?
A little more info from me: If I have it done, it will be at least 6 months, my optometrist will see how things are progessing then, and we'll make more decisions. For reasons, the eye surgeon I'll be going to is in Columbus (that's about 2 hours from where I live). When I was younger, I made the mistake of watching some videos presented by a local eye surgeon, and it gave me the willies to think of being awake and aware of something coming at my eyeball. It still does, so for my mental comfort, I'd rather be out totally.

They do that same basic surgery now as an alternative to Lasik because yes the lens they put in can be corrective and you wouldn’t need glasses anymore (or at least as often - don’t know if readers might still be needed). My sister had the surgery done but did not have cataracts. Just wanted rid of glasses.

Did you have both eyes done at the same time? If not, why not? I don't know the answers to most of your questions, but for this one, they do one eye at a time because it'll take a while (possibly a few weeks) for the eye to heal and you'll not be able to use it immediately afterwards, so you'll still be able to see with the other one

When my wife had hers done, they did both eyes. She got "multi-focal" lenses and does not need glasses at all.

Windows 11 question?: I just bought a new laptop with Windows 11. Is there some way I can get away from having to enter a pin no. when I log on? I haven't turned the computer on yet.
Regards a CD/DVD are there any recommendations on an add on. Lots to choose from and I'm a hobby user.

I use an external LG BP60NB10. It reads Blu-ray, writes or reads DvD & CD, is barely larger than a CD and is only 1/2 an inch thick. Been using it 2 years, so reliable enough? It might be more than you want; but it is as small as I could find.

At that time it was supposedly all in the cloud, and all my IT friends said to hold off for a while on the upgrading. Is Win11 in the cloud?

I get the general gist of the joke, but why is the second soldier saying "Word"? What does he mean by that?

And that's just one MORE thing the DI's will chew on reacting to 'gang' slang. That's a no no in the Army/Marines/AF etc. DON'T DO IT!
Oh and Julie: I had both eyes treated for cataracts less then 3 months ago. The one thing no one said is that you WILL be sedated (I didn't remember a thing) and you WILL NEED someone to drive you home (no taxis, uber or the like) but someone you are familiar with and brought the appointment and will take you home. Your ophthalmologist may not ALLOW you to get both eyes done at the same time (that's good).
First thing you notice is COLORS! And if you later need a 'tune up' for close reading they can do that in 30 painless seconds with a laser. Things have come a loooong way in just a few years.
Let us know how it went or if have more questions.

I'm not really noticing anything, except when we did the eye exam, all of the letters had "tails" to the lower left, even the round ones. I do not have this problem when reading books or on the computer, so I'm wondering if there wasn't something else involved. Mal, "Word" is agreement, yes, but it's more nuanced, more like saying, "You are speaking the truth." It's not just agreeing with an opinion, but that what was said was objective fact.

I have a stand-alone satellite receiver in my car that's over 16 years old. It plugs into the AUX port on the radio.
Whenever I switched to AUX, the volume would jump to level 18, and I would have to turn down to kevel 11 or 12. All of a sudden, the volume coming out of the satellite receiver now needs the radio volume to be over level 22 to be heard at all, with a lot of distortion.
I checked the cable for the audio & it seems to be ok. Same for the antenna connection, which shows a full strength signal. I had to replace the antenna 5 years ago due to a cut wire.
Are there any possible causes, other than the receiver going obsolete?

Try squirting some WD40 Contact Cleaner or similar into the socket, it's possible that there's just been a build-up of crud on the contacts.
If that doesn't work, it's possible you might have a faulty connection which would need to be re-soldered.
